Turning ipod hard drive into an external

My old photo is shot so i decided to crack it open. I use the shell as a wallet now and have a perfectly good screen and hard drive. what im curious though is before i do whatever with that hunk of 40 gigs, if i can somehow turn it into an external for my laptop. i googled but nothing to if someone here has the skills and feels liek telling me please, go right ahead. thanks

just put it into disk mod and it is an external.Â

you can buy a kit to turn a normal internal disk into an external hard drive i don't know if it would work for your ipod

u cant you use it as an external HD?dont you just need to go to "my computer" and then go to"YOUR IPOD", and just make a new folder there? Well i know you can do that with the ipod videos.

yeah i looked into doing this last year and if i remember correctly, it was just too much work. i.e soldering ect. just sell the bare harddrive on ebay and buy an external with thtat money. post a pic of your wallet, that sounds cool
