Yeah dude, the dorms are the shit. EVERYONE i've met so far in college has been from the dorms. Plus that is where everyone is partying on weekdays and such. Just get a table for beer pong/beruit and you'll be set.

you dont need to, but honestly dorms are sick. you only have a small little square that you need to keep clean and you have decent hot food prepared for you for all your meals.... pretty sick deal if you ask me. and freshman year in dorms is a pretty good time.

i live in an on campus apartment. i share it with 3 others. my half of one of the bedrooms is the size of 2 dorms. our living room could fit probably 4 dorm rooms in it. and we have a kitchen, a bathroom, and plenty of closet space.
biggest thing, privacy, and being able to get away to do work without leaving. id kill myself if i had to live in a dorm here and eat the cafeteria food.

having lived in both dorms and off campus housing i will say the conditions for living were way better in my apartment, but i met sooo many people in the dorms, but i always through huge house parties which was always a good time
dorms are the best way to go for the first year or two. then it is time to move out. both necessary for the college experience. i was required to stay in the dorms for 2 years and the second year was even more fun because you knew what you could get away with, and then we figured out ways to get passed that.
you should definitly live in a dorm (or at least on campus) for your first year or so. my ex gf went from living at home for community college to an off campus apt at her new college and she is really haveing a hard time adjusting and meeting new people. not to say that is the case for everyone but i know i met a ton of people through living in the dorms. i miss the dorms from time to time but i think it definitly helps you adjust to college life.
im pretty introverted myself and i like the dorms. your room mate isnt always in your dorm and if you want you can close your door not a big deal. but usually you want to keep your door open never know when that hottie will walk by and come in

Yes, get a dorm. If you're going to be a freshy, dorms are wicked fun. you meet tons of people and have a shitload of fun. And for the most part, no ones cares what you do anyways as long as you're smart about it and aren't to obvious.

Dorms are really nice if you're social and have spare time. I opted to live off campus and my schedule doesn't allow me to do anything other than homework, so I think being away from it all really helps out. There's pros and cons to both sides; it all boils down to what you want out of your college experience, not what you think another person needs.
i had a nice private dorm room with carpeting and ceiling fan, and i shared a bathroom with one suitemate. but now i live in a 4bedroom apartment with one friend. each bedroom has it's own bathroom and mini-kitchen and they buildings are brand new. and rent is based per room/suite so we don't pay for the empty bedrooms that we managed to get into and sue for storage.
last year i went back to dorms to visit some friends and a couple friends i was with who were visiting from a different college somehow broke into the basement, turned off all the power and we all bolted out of there.
im a freshman living in the dorms now and i would highly reccomend it. the majority of my friends, probably just about all of them, are from my dorm. i also wouldnt reccomend getting the dorm right across from the RA, it doesnt work out too well

assuming youre going to be a freshman, it's a must. we can apply for single, double, and triple dorms. i'm in a double and we always have people over- it's a good time. you meet guys and girls on your floor and you get so many experiences you won't forget (though sometimes you'd like to). i mean sometimes it can be a pain, but i don't think i'd do it any other way.

yea man, its my first year at college and my college doesnt have rez and im from ottawa my college is in vancouver so it sucks a lot. i went to uvic for a weekend to visit this girl and it looked so much more fun then how i live. you meet a fuckload more people and your basically always with them so its not hard to meet more people.
Life's a garden, dig it.
The Great Blue Heron, Ardea herodias, is a wading bird of the heron family Ardeidae, common all over North and Central America as well as the West Indies and the Galápagos, except in deserts and high mountains where there is no water for it to wade in. It is very similar to the European Grey Heron. This is the largest North American heron.
I kinda wish I'd been a freshman in the dorms, but I transferred in from community college to the school I'm at now, and just said fuck that and got my own place. I'm having a hard time meeting people, but on the flip side I need a bit more space for all my shit, and to be able to study.
If you're a freshman, it's a must. Transfer students are a bit different though.

your not missing out on much, you'll meet plenty of people regardless. dorms are a rip off and you have to share bathrooms with everyone, but theres mass people all close to you to chill with. im in a 3 story apartment with 2 friends for my freshman year and we love it, i've stayed with friends at dorms and yeah its fun but it can get old, plus i love to cook so having a regular kitchen kicks ass. so im not sayin its better or worse but its not a very big deal to me, each has its ups and downs

the only good thing about the dorms is the accessibility to a huge group of potential friends. once you get a good friend base built up at school, it's nice to not have to walk past the water fountain to get to the shower.

i agree i go to suny brockport and its like the number 1 in dining services out of all the suny schools and i have to say its not bad, some of it yea. They have hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza and spaghetti every night if ya dont like the main thing though plus a huge salad/fruit bar. moms cookin is always better but i cant complain
I lived in dorms during highschool and during my first year of university. It was awesome. This is how you will meet a ton of people. I transferred schools after my first year and ended up in a different city while living in an apartment. It was a lot harder to meet people, especially because first year classes are so big. Dorms are a good time and the reason your marks will be shit for the first year.

Oh I get it. Sorry to ruin your day.
i definitely think living in a dorm is really fun and i dont mind it at all. its pretty fun. id recommend it for like a the first year at least. its not bad. and its fun to meet everyone that way. either way youll meet lots of cool people.

I'd just like to point out that for less than the cost of living in a dorm you could instead be renting a 2500 square foot house, nothing against dorms, but seriously, think of all the benefits, and if you actually know how to cook, you can cook and eat out several times a week and it comes out to be cheaper than the cheapest meal plans available at schools around here

dorms are fun, but don't be fooled. they have their gay aspects as well. Take for example, my dorm: 8 fire alarms pulled the first 6 days. not cool. People boxing in a nearby room, running into walls at 2am while you are trying to sleep because you have class at 8 the next morning. etc. But, overall, its pretty fun!
i think that this is pretty accurate. You just have to remember that everything is not all that "cool." there are gay policies on alcohol, RA's, medicore food, hard to study, and you can be stuck with someone you hate for a whole year. oh yeah, and its harder to throw parties in your dorm than in a house.
