ok, im pretty much set that i'm getting a canon hv20, sick features, amazing quality as far as i've seen from numerous samples. I just like to knwo fi anyone has any skiing shots of it?
yeah i had footage from mine its hdv so its nice really nice but its to small to really use, honestly i would rather have a gl2, editing hd footage just takes to long
to each his own, but i just couldn't use an hv20. Its deffinatly a dope camera, 24p, native widescreen, and hdv. i wanted itr for a while but it seems to difficult to use like with no focus ring, a fixed viewfinder and other little things. But it deffinatly seems sick and you will probably get ill footy with it.
ya, seems like a sick camera if you're doing a lot of follow cams, but if you're trying to do some creative/artsy stuff it's not gunna cut it. Definitely will produce some sick footage though.
Lack of easy to reach or no manual controls (shutter, f-stop, focus) means it harder it manipulate them for more creative applications (rack focuses, blowing our an image, etc.)Â If you don't know what I am talking about, it would make a great camera for you.
don't judge me like that. im from sweden and im new into the camera business and therefore it's pretty hard to know the international words for camcorded-related things...
with this focus ring lack you mean you cant "unfocus" things?
I apologize, I didn't intend any sarcasm or insult. It's a great camera, if being technical and artsy are unimportant to you. Yes, no focus ring means you can't manually unfocus objects. With that camera, the depth of field may be so narrow that it could be really hard to get anything out of focus.
your friend must capture his (miniDV im guessing, not DV) footage at horrilble quality... or like in windows movie maker or something. Im not on my computer right now but i can tell you right now 10 minutes of miniDV footage is waaay more than 100mb, probably right around 2gb. It takes longer to render cause theres more resolution.
hah... the HV20 can be used in just that way. You just have to know how to use it, plus there is a way to get full manual Iris control out of it. It's not the camera, it's the operator.
Correct, It has no focus "ring" it does have manual focus though, like some of the new sony's it has a slidey tracker type thing which works quite well but is a bit fiddley.
how good are the quality of the followcams? have you got any followcam footage?
im interessted in the camera but im very worried about the followcams.. hv20+followcam=crap? just a thought..
depends on how good your filming is really...
i adapted my tripod so that it is weighted and can use it as a giant handle, this has made it quite stable and i'm just waiting on a new 0.38x fisheye from ebay. Those together should be pretty nice i think.
if you can put off buying it for about 2 weeks then i could upload some footage... but as of yet i am waiting for my macbook pro to arrive. :o(
