To anyone who has skied Nakiska

I have got a job there for all of next season. I know its small and could get boring but at least i can live in the snow and ski quite a bit. :D yay.

Im in the market for skis and bindings. I know it has a good park and im mostly a park skier but i was wondering if the place sees much pow..Should i be looking at a fatish park ski like a scratch bc wrs.. Or jsut go for a good all mountain park ski like the AR6.. Im 181cm and 74kg. Adv. Prob gunna be doin bout 75% park and the rest jsut cruising but if theres some pow or deep snow il def be doin some trees.

I dont no all that much about the resort atm so any input would be great.

i have been there on days when it got hammered and they were good days, but they are few and far between. Theres a reason why the racers love it so much. sorry bro

ok, nakiska, ok.

So 95% of the snow is blown... and when it does snow... it blizzards generally cause  that part of kananaskis is quite windy. But a few times a year they get some really crystally snow that is perfect. Its not a huge hill but there is enough of it. Once the park is up its pretty rad, its all jumps, some good sized ones too. They feel bigger than they are because the park is lined with tall trees that make you feel a little claustrophobic, and they don't make a pipe anymore. Theres a few jibs, and they usually have a pretty massive butter box. Which is SICK!

If I were you, Id get a pair of ARV's, its a good tool for everything they have. And if fortress opens up again, maybe, maybe not, I havnt heard. Youll need something with more girth to it.

do not get arvs, way too fucking soft.

if i were you id stick to maybe a volkl park ski, or the rossi brigade.

yo want something with a 90 waist that will be stiff, if you plan on skiing at nakiska. its either park or flying super fast down all the groomers there

Oooh or get some lib tech skis... theyd be perfect.
Im not sure where you can buy them yet, Ive not seen them in shops around here, but if you can find this years online; do it!

magna would be perfect for what youre looking for.

i've seen pow ONCE in Nakiska every other day it's groomers. Don't get pow skis you'll look like a tool get some good park skis cause that's all you'll be doing and hopefully you don't get raped by a racer...

why are you goin to nakiska?

i think a all mountain or park ski would be way more functional than a pow ski there

Im comin from Aus I applied to late so whistler and lake louise etc were filled.
Also nakiska had the best staff accomidation for a good rent. Get my own room in the olympic villige.

What about the Volkl Walls, how are they on the groomers. 87 waist.

I demoed big troubles this year n thought they were to heavy for park. ( i booked ghettos but sum1 took them so i had to get big troubles) I didnt like them all that much. What other 08 skis out there have around a 90 waist. That are great on the groomers as well.

I reckon pipe cleaners will be fair fun on groomers....Fast to keep up with the racers haha.

whistler is never full. just book a hostel for a week or 2 or find a random aussie to stay with and you'll find work within a few days, guaranteed. unless you're an idiot. housing is a little harder to come by but if you go early in the season (like october before the hiring fair) you'll get some. may not be your own room but well worth it. nakiska sucks. unless you ski park 100% of the time, and then whistlers park is so much better that you should go there anyways. plus they get pow, theres actually a town with nightlife and you will enjoy your time so much more.

Dude Nakiska's slogan is "Canada's best groomers" I went there for a day and acctually left early it was so bad
