does anyone use an xl2 for filming skiing or know of some footage? im interested to see what it would look like cause it doesnt seem like anyone uses one.
Hell no, you're much better off with a DVX, at least you can use that as a follow cam and fit it in a reasonably small bag.
I saw an XL2 being used for filming skating once, the guy who was filming was using the handle and it looked like his arm was going to get ripped out of his socket.
the DVX is a more resonable size for skiing, it has a bigger selection of lenses (they are cheaper too, but the XL2 lenses arent fixed, so they are better in a sense)
the DVX also has superior color settings of any standard definition miniDV camera. Also, the XL2 can mount 35mm lenses directly to camera, with a cheap lens adapter. The DVX requires a $1200 (approx.) 35mm DOF adapter to do this. For skiing, you shouldnt worry about it.
