Kickflips

Ok,I really need help kickfliping. I can flip the board around but I can't land on it. I've been trying it non stop for about 4-5 days and have been making little to no progress. AND I pulled my thigh muscle in my left leg from kicking the board. Any tips would help tremendously. Thanks

No I can do shuvits, pop shuvits, and 180s, my problem is that my feet land on the ground before the board does

I dont skate anymore but when your in the air, after you have the board spinning, put your feet together and land on the board. Sometimes kids chicken out to land back on the board. Dont know if its your case. But put your feet together and land back on.

I don't think that that is what is happening. I'm not pussying out on the landing I'm justnot able to land period. I guess I'll just do trial and error.

Get your mind off it. When you keep trying one trick over and over again it will take forever gor you to accomplish. Instead, focus on a different trick and then try a kickflip every now and then. You will probably find it easier.

well for one thing.. never try a trick not moving it just looks retarded,,,
to kickflip, put your back foot normal position for ollie, front foot right near the front bolts, pop and kick near the concave and out, not backwards that looks retarded also (its called mob when you kick back and your foot goes below your board) anyways just flip it and wait till you see your board come back upright and land on it


the reason your not landing on the baord is becaue your pussying out (don't worry everyone does this when learning to skate), it is an easy trick once you get the balls to actualyl try to land on it, most tricks are like that where you just don'thave the balls to get your feet on the board, i used to do it when learning to kickflip you know you just land with one foot on the baord and the other one off because i was being a big pussy, so get over the fear and stomp it

I'm not doing it moving right now. Should I? I've done all of my other tricks standing still before i tried it moving. Anyways in just 15 minutes I've been making a lot oif good progress thanks for all of the help

yeah, you must do it moving, even if its slowly. and you also must just go for it and fall once. then when you realize it didn't hurt when you fell youll get it.

My breakthrough in kickflips back in the day... was that I realized when I was flipping the board i was just tapping down w/ my foot instead of out. You need to flip the board by kicking forward, and it helps to keep your back foot out to at the same time, and just imagine yourself over the bolts while it's flipping, and bring your feet back over. Sometimes your body has to just get used to it. I have the hardest time w/ nollie flips stomping them because I don't jump high enough and stuff.

The key is to do them S L O W, Hit your back tail and slowy kick and as you do it bring up you knees to your chest. Once you get them they are easy as hell.

if you learn the basic stuff, like ollieing off little drops, going real fast and ollieing, you'll have more control over your board and things will come easier

dude i havent stepped on a board for like 2 years but you should start em in the grass thats what i did it took me like 3 days to learn to kick/heel flip and then i got 360 flip down pretty fast too

my number one hint..is to put your foot, EXACTLY where u would for an ollie...roll your foot exactly like an ollie, except give the slightest flick near the bolts with your toe...it's so easy, yet kids get this whole idea that the closer your foot is to the edge the more it flips...but u can never catch it at all

its different for everyone, but yeah, dont put it right on the edge because it flips stupidly, use an ollie footing except tilt your foot a little.

yea, for me, its the same backfoot position as an ollie, and you just flick up and out, spot, catch, roll away, get chick, bang chick, get high fives from freinds, fight friends, smoke weed drink booze, roll away

gravteck gave the best advice,

your flipping motion is wrong, kick out, and flip the board under you and land. I don't know if that helped but it mainly just takes practice. Try and concentrate on jumping up and fliping under you.

well, if you are gonna learn, I may get shit for this, but I would learn to skate with fruitboots. theres a few reasons. First, I dont care what you fuckers say, you are a fucking idiot if you disagree with me, its closer to skiing than skateboarding and you might (not sure bout this one) improve your skiing alot more with it than you would with skateboarding. Also Inlining feels really nice and smooth and leisurely and its just easier and you get better faster so theres not 3 month struggle (some people i know....) to leanr how to ollie and then a nother month to do a kickflip. With inlines you learn 3s like instantly and then 540s come soon etc. Its just more fun and you get better, plus everything looks bigger, you go bigger. I dunno, I dont really see why you would skate instead, it takes sooooo much effort till you get anywhere. But I'm not saying skating is not cool, because I have just as much respect for them as the next guy but I think people should open up to fruitbooting. I say this, if you havnt watched a decent inliner do his thing or watched a decent video (try downloading any segment from 'mindgame words' on kazaa, you will find it, I downloaded the wole movie in segs) Once you watch a movie then you can talk shit.

if you are pulling a muscle in your leg, chances are you are flicking it wrong. its almost all ankle, not leg. also, think about catching the trick with your back foot, and your front foot will just do its thing.
