You can use any of those programs. But if its vegas make sure it's i think Vegas 6 and up, maybe its just vegas 7, but anyways make sure the vegas can support rendering in HD.

FCP is the best way to go, if you have a mac or plan on getting one!

Final Cut blows Premiere and Vegas out of the water. It has superior HD support. I don't know about HDV support though, I heard somewhere that its not too good with that format.

ha, you heard wrong, i bet you never even heard that.
Final Cut works just fine w/ HDV cameras. Just as easy as any other camera out there.

oh word? I read in the Creative Cow magazine that it was kind of a pain to set up or something like that.
but I've never done any intense editing with HDV; you'd know better than anyone here.

that magazine is totally wrong then, i found that Final Cut Studio 5 worked flawlessly with the HDV system, With Final Cut 6 the only situation i've come across is having a hard time getting back to 720i DVCPRO HD after editing in a 1080/ 60i timeline. But after i figured it out i havent had a problem.
