just posted this in the apple forums, figured it wouldnt hurt to try here too,
Hi,
I recieved footage in the form of "mpeg movie" files from a friend, and I am unable to import them into FCP. They work with VLC player but the only way i found to use them was by converting the files into .mov files using "squared5" first which will take too long and makes the files much bigger for some reason (117mb to 1.3gb). The camera that shot the footage is a discontinued JVC JY-HD10u shooting in HDV 720p30. I've searched for solution and the only similar problem people seem to be having is not having audio because of some kind of compression, but I can't even get the files into final cut so I'm pretty sure I have a completely different problem. I thought FCP 6 could work with virtually any type of video? o and I also tried changing the "easy setup" to the right kind of camera (HDV 720p30). any help would be awesome and let me know if you need more info on anything, thanks,
John
