Reason is the best for beats and instrumentals.
but if you can't even figure out acid I'd steer clear of it, it's super powerful and anything worth using is super-complex.

Protools, Reason and Logic are all sick. A friend of mine is a protools teacher so he has a sick setup at his pad.

so I actually downloaded that but got stuck with the instructions on how to get it working. This is what it says to do. I got stuck from number 5 and 6, what exactly is an install directory?
1. run Setup.exe
2. complete installation
3. copy "Adobe Audition 2 Patch.exe"
4. goto "X:\Program Files\Adobe Audition 2" (where X:\ is the drive which Adobe Audition 2 is installed, typically C:\)
5. paste "Adobe Audition 2 Patch.exe" in the install directory
6. run "Adobe Audition 2 Patch.exe"
7. click "Patch", the program will tell you it has sucessfully patched Adobe Audition 2
8. run Adobe Audition 2 from the Start Menu or Desktop.
You are done.

Reason is a way better program then fruity loops all around. You can make ridiculous beats pretty easily with fruity loops, but you can do ANYTHING with reason once you figure out how to use it. But, it's like $400 and you need a MIDI keyboard to use with it.

you can download a free version of Acid, that's what i use. then you still have to find a ton of loops though.

im pretty sure he uses reason AND fruity loops, but they only mention fruity loops. according to wikipedia anyways i think. my guess would be chopping in reason then doing the rest in fl?

I have both Reason and Acid and I prefer Reason by far, Acid is good for starting and get used to beatmaking and for remixes but with any MIDI controlerr, Reason is money.

In reason, can you add beats and make songs as easily as in fruity loops? I love the way fruity loops is but I cant seem to apply a crack to it. Also does it come with tons of presets like FL does?
