ok so lately I have been hearing all about fucking pretty boy Pete Wentz from Fag Out Boy and how he is "so punk". this is really pissing me off cuz I heard sum Duchest people talking about how Pete is more punk than Sid Vicious from the sex pistols. this is effing pissing me off. so what do u guys think about this?
Your replies are boring and duechelike and why are you fighting me if you like punk music? Go listen to your mix cd labeled "punk" that has pennywise, good charlotte, avril levigne and fall out boy on it, I will stick to my genres bitch.
I love Pennywise too and they are punk, but I'm just saying that they don't belong in the same genre as that shit, and that
kid doesn't believe in genres.
You are that kid that just wants everybody to love and respect other people's musical expression as if it were their own. I can hate other people's choice of music and the scenes they encourage, that's my right, and fuck you if you try to say someone else's taste and mine are related when they're not.
Btw I noticed you changed your signature, that didn't take much. When did punk become so tame? and your trying to classify Fall Out Boy with the Unseen? Your opinions are a trainwreck hippie.
Who cares? Often times opening acts are completely dif nthan the headliner. I saw Bad Religion open for Blink 182 back in the day after Enema of the State came out, and 1/3 of the crowd(everyone over age 18) left after Bad Religion played.
Blink SUUUCKED so bad, so drunk they couldn't even bang out their power chords. They got booed for the whole show and people were chanting for BR to come back onstage.
My friends went and saw Leftover Crack in VT, and a lot of people listen to them and choking victim
anti flag is good, but so is fall out boy
dont call me names or say shit to me, i listen to punk, i know and have played with punk bands, but i still like pop punk and such
music is music
people get too wrapped up in thier own opinions and get all pissy
grow up, honestly
what genre is fall out boy? (and do you actually know you actually know your shit?) prove yourself.
i've never heard any of falloutboys shit so i wouldnt know.
also im not emo if thats what you were trying to say.
im just saying i listen to some punk/pop/new wave shit and its not even close to what you would call emo, like the lyrics cant even related to emotions or feelings or depression or any of that give me attention stuff.
and please, respond to this with an open minded answer.
not going to quote it but whoever said the openers can be better than the actual band i can agree with. Last night, fucking Funeral for a Friend (not at all a fan) or whatever was the headliner ahead of Emanuel and Alexisonfire (both good shit). The problem today is pop/punk has BECOME the mainstream. These bands no longer have anything meaningful to say and are more concerned about how their records sell. Case in point, Green Day BLEW UP among 12 year olds after they decided to cash in on the hate-the-government-without really doing/saying anything-trend. Kids these days are looking for something that they think is punk, and bands like fall out boy are eager to fill the void for them. 99 percent of the time, these bands aren't punk but want to be percieved as such by their young audience. It's all about selling and maintaining an image for them, not following punk culture tradition by promoting ideas/causes.
meh... I don't care at all if fob say they're punk! keepin it posi :]
I like punk music, I listen to minor threat, gorilla biscuits, nofx to name a few
anti flag is the gayest band ever
they put duct tape over their mouths and write impeach bush on themselves trying to make it look like our government kills our citizens
if they fucking hate our country them they should move the fukc out and quit their bitching
freedom of speech you fuck, and to add on to your comment about our government killing our citizens, we do send soldiers into war to kill, where they could also die.
OK now I am on Drew's side with this, are you serious? It is anyone who claims to love the US should be pissed off about the government right now you ignorant POS.
Def some sick old school punk rock bands. I love Pennywise, Bouncing Souls, Rancid, Face to Face, The Living End, Bring Your Guns, Tiger Army, The Casualties, The Misfits, The Drapes, Social D...just to name a few.
I stopped listening to Anti-flag when I found out they were on the same label as Ashley Simpson. Complete Bullshit.
Propagandhi are where it's at. Full Stop.
That is a ghey reason to stop listening to a great band who feels strongly enough about their massage that they want to get it out. Sure they will make more $$$, but they are doing it their way, so fuck you if you hate them for that too.
"Anti-Flag's decision to sign to major label RCA is a major source of criticism among critics and fans alike. RCA is owned by Sony BMG, a large corporation. Some fans find this decision hypocritical due to Anti-Flag's previously overt anti-capitalist lyrics. Furthermore, critics have highlighted the contradiction between releasing an album entitled "Underground Network" and espousing the benefits of independent media, and then signing to a major label. As a result, many fans of the early band have felt betrayed by this switch to mainstream."
"However, in an interview with English newspaper, The Guardian, Justin Sane said "We've been approached by the major labels over the past seven or eight years but we thought we were having an impact where we were. They were never willing to give us complete control. This time they were willing to give us complete control over what we record, the artwork, who we tour with. We won't be censored. If there was ever a time to take a chance to be heard on a mass scale then this is the time. I feel like we've been a voice in the wilderness for too long."
