over spring break when i was in florida i serioulsy watched 2 hours a night, for like 4 days of them both

did anyone watch him on conan? he said when he was in northern ireland he had to spend the night in the carcass of a deer. sure if he was going to die they would have got him out but he stayed. thats what makes him a badass. survivorman, although he does do cool shit doesn't go into half as dangerous situations as bear

fuck he is crazy. there was some kinda like marathon on last night. they had this one where he was in alaska skiing and got stranded and had to get down, that one was kinda interesting.

but the new one on friday was sweet. he fucking bit a frogs head off, jumped in that like quicksand mud and fucking stabbed a turtle in the head then ate the bitch. he is so damn crazy, its probably my favorite show!!

yeah it was really good, he was stranded in the everglades. and to everyone who says oh he has a camera crew blah blah blah im on my period. the situations he puts himself in 80% of the time a camera crew wouldnt help. like on the everglades one when he climbed up that tree, how are they gonna help if he falls? they arent. survivor man is boring his stuff isnt as risky. Anyways, I stated in that one that Man vs Wild is not a survival show. And I'll maintain that it isnt.

Bear Grylls (haha, thats a hard-core name if I ever heard one) goes out into a area with a camera crew and films himself in dangerous situations. He risks his life doing crazy shit. So does Johnny Knoxville. While I think we can all appreciate the thrill of life-endangering risks to some degree, since most of us ski, claiming that he gives you essential skills to survive in the wilderness is beyond a ridiculous claim. If you were in a life and death survival situation, every wilderness expert would almost ALWAYS recommend finding a way around a waterfall rather than tethering a vine and rapping down. The stuff he does would RARELY be the best option in a life or death situation. I also maintain that hes a overacting showman who's trying to make a quick buck.

but you are right on, rarely does he give good advice, and so many shots are set up to mace him look more core. Like i said in the other thread, what pissed me off the most is that in the "Rockies" episode when he is floating down the river (which is the worst advice you could ever give to someone stranded in the bc) you can clearly see that he is wearing a lifejacket under his sweatshirt when he gets to shore. There is a huge camera crew and props, not very "wild" if you ask me. Im sure he has catered meals and frappucinos when the camera is off.

The thing about Bear is he has the credentials. He has the know how to do what he needs to do. It's not like some random guy was hired, and they just teach him everything (although he probably researches ahead of time, but I've done the same, so big deal). Some of what he does is on the eccentric side, like when in hawaii, going down into the lava tubes for water... a bit too dangerous for water, but hey, it worked. But a lot of the shit is straight knowledge: knots catching the crevasse lip, pusiks, energy conservation, etc etc. A lot of what he does you cant fake, like climbing an offwidth crack, to name something. You just cant fake that!

I mean shit, he has climbed Ama Dablam (an absolutely beautiful mountain, yet very tech), Mt. Everest, and many other acheivements that give him credibility. Why the fuck would he need a camera crew to treat him like some dumb bitch? He's done stuff far, far worse.

And survivorman still bitches way too much

the thing about bears camera crew is that bear is pretty much responsible for them... you always hear him telling them to get back and shit like that.  if anything it makes him more core then survivor man
