i almost died

alright, im going caving up in the boonies, and on my hike back, (like 10 miles) i have to cross this river, and do all this bs, but im with my gf, and were having a good time, it was perfect, well about 5 minutes from the car, i hear something crash in the woods up to my right, i look, and somethings running right at me, my gf is about 10 ft behind me i turn and say run, and she takes off, well then i still couldnt tell wtf it was, then i realize its a fuckin grizzly, i yell SHIT! and my gf stops and grabs her bear spray, then sees it, and freezes. mind you its still charging at me. (this is all in like a time frame of about 15 seconds) and then its comin towards me.

alright hold up here for a sec, ok, well we had just crossed the river for the last time, and i had put my bear spray in my pack while i cross, well figuring we were about 5 min away from the car i dont get it back out.

ok, back to the story, so i dont have time to grab my spray, and this bear is like 5-6ft from me, i take off my pack, and as this bear is about to hit me, i step to the side and it sorta checked me, and then i slammed my pack on its head, it kinda yelps(i had alot of climbing gear, lots of hard metal.) and keeps running. i fall to my knees and am like holy shit, i almost died, and my gf was in tears, she thought it was gonna be the end of me. ya, wow. thought id just share

Yea that is badass dude. I'm not trying to play down what happened because that is seriously insane. I can't begin to understand how something that surreal being a reality would feel. That would scare me so much man. I haven't had anything like that before, closest thing was getting chased by a big fuckin guard dog on my bike but i got a way and then this pinner little bitch dog came yappin at my heels and i kicked it in the head.

yeah, i hadent heard of bear spray before. We have some bears around here (i've only ever seen 1 or 2) but, not enough that people need bear spray. That is nuts! How was caving? Caving is so sick, i went on a trip like that last summer. We had to hike for miles, then swim across this very wide river with all our gear then hike more until we got to the cave. fun stuff. glad your okay! good thinking!

ya, the bear spray works, its like this super hot pepper spray, and on a human can temporarily blind you. but ya, if you spray them in the eyes or face it works, but like some idiots a few years ago, sprayed their campground with it, and the bears like eating it, so they came to the campground, but its like when eating an orange, they are yummy, but when the citrus hits your eyes it burns like fuck.

yeah dude I got an uncle lives up in c-falls...bears all the time, but us montanas always have a gun on the hip...except I guess he didn't....but I doubt a colt 45 woulda done much on a grizzly. maybe if he had a 12-gauge, that mighta slowed the mighty beast
