Video Card Question
so I was wondering what will make a video card fail...I just got this new widescreen monitor and when i play windows media player videos it says my video driver has failed and it causes my screen to crash...
i was wondering what i should look for in a new video card that will make it so it doesnt crash?
You just need to find what drivers work well with your monitor. Google it.
If you have a dedicated video card it should automatically search for the latest driver. As snowcase says search your VC's make and model and you should get all updates. It's probably easiest to go to manufacturers site first(ATI, G-Force).
If your going to get a new one just buy the best you can afford. If you have a PCI-X socket, utilize it. Unless you have a 30inch monitor or are a graphic artist you don't need to spend more than $150-200.
Check your hardware and find out what graphics card you have (should be easy enough to do) then find the second to latest drivers for it. They usually have the bugs worked out in the second to last one.
