I'm pretty sure the rule of thumb isn't legal anymore dude. But the more disturbing thing is... well, look at the census reports for certain regions of India on a yearly basis, and you'll see how often women are killed in "cooking accidents" involving immolation. It's frightening. More frightening still: most of the main hospitals in India barely bother to support a burn unit. Everyone knows it's going on, no one's willing to do anything about it. One of the biggest human rights issues in Asia right now, imo.
