no, beacause its such an amazing thing. its worth it. if my parents hand me pills i threaten to flush them down the toilet. because i dont believe in that kind of healing. i would like to have good grades to. so i do occasionally (2 times a week). if i cant sleep i will do it once b4 bed so i can greatly. if i want to be more spiritual in my religion. i smoke. jea
my parents im sure would see that i only use weed for reasons of positivity. never to just do it. with A's and B's on my grades. quite frankly they dont even want to argue about it probably.

Sellassie yes. i mean if u just hit some marijuana and read some scriptures. they hit u in a whole new meaning. ganga brings me closer to my religion. it influences me more in my faith.

the only reason that it is illegal is because of some film named refer maddness, watch it, then think about that being the main case in the supreme court. its rediculous to sum it up, some dude smokes some ganj and then runs over some people and cuts them up with a chainsaw...

Yeah I watched that this year...such a ridiculously ignorant portrayal of smoking weed.

thats so true it actually motivated me to get better grades, like before i smoked i didnt care and i would get like c's or fail but now that i smoke i get A's and B's, and im 95% sure my parents know that i smoke but dont say anything because i have good grades and thats how i want to keep it. I realize thats a really great thing cuz i smoke somthing that relaxes me and calms me and lets me think way more, and i feel more and more like i have to get good grades, so now i get to go to a good college and maybe get a scholorship still got fingers crossed on that, and my life gets to be kick ass and i can honestly say that weed did that to me.

I smoked for about 3/4's of a year. I don't now because I'm not sure if I'll get drug tested or not for my job in the fall.

But it actually motivated me to do things around the house for my parents. I never cleaned the house half as much as i did when i smoked the reason being that it just relaxed me and made me realize that i need to try to make everybody happy haha. or i just felt like i wasted a day and needed to make up for it.

I'm reading these responses and honestly, I can't take some of them seriously. There are far too many to respond to individually, so this is my response to all of you:

Whoever wrote the essay - I read it all (minus the words that are cut off on either side) and it was fairly well written with the exception of some grammatical errors. You make some good points that are few and far between. Lets see... Poor old granny, busted for her cooking - there is a difference between recreational marijuana and medical marijuana. Medical marijuana is legal (I guess she didn't have a prescription) and I have no problem with it but that is not the issue that is being debated here. In the Netherlands, you said that marijuana use has gone up and hard drug usage has not. Hard drug usage has not gone down, though. So they've got more potheads and no less hard drug users. So legalizing marijuana did not help their drug problem, did it? The medical tests in which users of marijuana score almost as well and drive almost as well. But not as well. Almost, but not quite. There is a difference. And participants drive better under the influence of THC than under the influence of alcohol? Guess what? Driving under the influence of alcohol is illegal too.

Whoever said that they started getting A's in school instead of C's when they started smoking - If I have ever heard a worse argument then I have somehow forgotten it. If you became smarter or concentrated better when you started smoking then there is either something wrong with you or else there was some coincidence in which you started focusing more at that exact time anyway.

I can't remember what anyone else said, but I thought of this since my last post: Why do you suppose the government sponsors public schools? Why do you suppose the government sponsors public universities? Why do you suppose it is mandatory for every child to attend school? I'll tell you. The more educated the population, the better the economy. This a general truth that I think everyone can accept. It is a fact that people can run businesses and be more productive if they are educated, smart, and sharp. Marijuana negatively affects memory and it lessens concentration. If marijuana becomes legal, more people will use it and more burnouts will emerge. A generation of burnouts and potheads does not make for a productive work force. As long as marijuana is illegal, it will stop some people from using it. Obviously, many people will always use it. But if you look at the countries that have legalized it, usage has gone up. Therefore, laws banning it stop some.

our Dutch drug problem? last time I checked we didn't really have a drug problem. That's because it's no problem if annyone smokes it. That's a really easy solution. saying weed contributes to a drug problem is the same thing as saying alcohol contibutes to this problem. It is time people realise that neither are good for you, so if you wanna be correct, either bitch about alcohol too, or don't bitch at all.

It is weird though, that these relatively innocent victimless crimes are such a big 'problem' for some countries. Hell, we even supply heroine to the hardcore junkies so that they wont steal for it. This isn't solving the hard drugs problem, but minimising the problems associated to it. Or formulated another way, it is a way of filtering out the victims out of the hard drug problem.

In my view our way is a good way of dealing with it.

The reason it will not be legalized is not because its so bad because it obviously isn't. But no congressman, senator, or presidential candidate is going to suggest such a thing because they will lose most of their support. Marijuana has a stigma around it and as long as we live in a culture of stigma the public will believe it is bad and the senators and congressmen will definately not get re-elected. I guarantee the media would tear them a new one and it would be political suicide. So stop arguing over if it is bad or not cause that is not the issue.

alcohol is far more dangerous than weed and thats legal...thats whats kinda lame. i have never once in my life seen a violant pothead who wasnt a wigger. of course its bad for your body but it stimulates your mind in a much better way

weed is addictive like chocolate or caffeine is addictive, but to compare it to opiates is rediculous. you crave it, sure, because you like the feeling of the high and want to replicate it. But its not like your going to go into withdrawal if you stop smoking weed for a day or something. the addictive effects are extremely less severe then a number of substances, even nicotine. so using that as a pillar to base an argument against legalization should not even be considered. i smoke weed, and if i run out for a day or two in not breaking into cold sweats and getting itchy and shit like a crackhead. i smoke cigarettes too, and if i go a day without doing that its super hard, thats an addiction. weed is a habit.
