Why skiing is great

it's because their are so many differant ways to be a skiier, you can ride park all day like some people, doing 810s onto rails and spinning like a top and doing crazy grabs, or you can throw smooth 3s and such shit. you can go into the city and find urban shit, you can race (although i don't know why you'd want to) you can do moguls. You can ride big mountain like pollard, or you can ride it likemorrison, or you can build yourself a booter. It's really hard to do all of this so stop the fucking hate threads about how some kids only ski park or whatever, because it's all skiing and it's all good

actually my dad hates newschool skiing and he's hella into good form and shit and it pisses me off.

But I love skiing, I just wish I could go up more than 15 days a year.

Skiing is great because I forget about bills, tests, homework, and cars that are falling apart. When I drop that cliff into an untouched powder field, I am not concerned about the politics of our world or questioning why I am so lucky as to live the way I do while so many die every day for lack of clean water.

I leave my head and become the moment, what is going on right then and maybe a little before. It isn't planned, it isn't premeditated, and I am as free as I ever get. This is why I ski.

Skiing has so much range of what you can do. Be it jibbing rails in tight pants or dropping cliffs after touring up, it is all skiing and people enjoy doing it, as they wouldn't be doing it if they didn't receive some sort of enjoyment from it. I really agree with the creator of this thread, ski for yourself and let others do likewise.

it's practiced in the most beautiful places on earth
you exercise while having a great time
you meet great people
it doesn't discriminate
it pushes you to your limits and allows you to improve
it gives you freedom
nothing else matters when you are up there
it makes you part of something greater
skiing makes skiers happier and therefore make the world a better place.
Everyone should ski.
