looks like they had the water constantly runnning down the turf, but it looked like there was some type of plastic fencing perhaps over the turf, to make it slide a bit better

i mean for a takeoff, i find that fencing slides faster, and usually i just land on grass at the end

fence is faster but less control. turf you dont slip out so much, dont catch as many edges, and just have better control

Turf also doesn't slice open any unsespecting exposed skin, only a burn.

fence is lethal if you have a skis with edges coming out of them. I dropped in switch on a 6 foot tall ramp, caught an edge, and got flung off the side of the ramp. You'd have much better luck with turf, or really really short, tough bristled carpet
