Possible to make a normal ski reverse camber/rockered?

Well, Ill let you know. Apparently, they will just snap after you bend them the wrong way, but I really dont care..they are old skis that are just a bit too short.

Ive used 10 Guinness Book Of World Records
3 10lb weights
4 5lb weights
a box of FREEZE and FREESKIER magazines
a box with 2 pairs of Px12's
Poker set

here is the progres so far. They have no camber as of an hour ago, and they have been bending like this for a good 2 days now

It obviously works better with skis that have metal in the, wood has the chance to not bend very much until they snap, and foam has the chance to get distorted. It can be done though.

I kept my pistols (original super-soft ones) upside down on their tips for an entire summer and got a little bit of tip rocker. Mini-rocker, just like 1cm or so. It is enough to notice though.

They are completely flat, no camber left. Ill have to try a new approach, because 80 pounds isnt enough to alter the flex from flat to reverse camber

yea for sure on the metal i bet if you got a pair of the metal volant skis you could make it have a rocker and stay way easier

setup a couple scrap peices of 2x4 and find someone with an old car they dont use/doesnt work and set it up. more weight = ???

i dont know if it would prevent it from snapping but i thought it might, set up a couple heaters aiming at the flex points and it might heat up and give a little more elasticity so they wouldnt snap, and it might make them keep the rev camber shape longer

why the hell are you guys putting rocker on skinny ass park skis? The point on putting rocker is to make it ski better in pow. Snowlerblade size scratches arent going to be very fun in powder, even with a stupid amount of rocker. Dumb idea dude.

Notice the skis in the pics everyone got off TGR? They aren't dinky park skis - they're old fat pow skis where the camber will actually do something.

first off, maybe theyll use them for messing around in the park or at your house or somethin, it doesnt only have to0 be rocker for pow, rocker can be fun anywhere. and i dont think there is such a thing as old fat skis...unless you think old is 4 years or so

rocker can be fun anywhere? what? Have you ever ridden an old pair of skis with no rocker left? They ski like shit. The only real advantage I can see is that you'll be able to do surface spins continuously without catching an edge. WOOOO won't that be fun!

And yes, there is such thing as old fat skis. Volkl has been making fatties for a lot longer than 4 years. Not 110mm + sorta skis, but much fatter than the park skis people in this thread are using.

whooops yeah i meant camber. Nomensteven, props on doing this with a decently wide ski. Let us know how they ride (or maybe not till next yr... probably all grass at most places in ontario)

ummm ok but in that video aren't they riding Hellbents? A super wide rockered ski made for pow? They're just screwing around in the park on hellbents, that's all. They weren't riding reverse camber fujatives or park skis

If you guys want to ruin your park skis because a single pro skier proclaimed park skiing was better with rockered skis well.... go for it. I guess I just dont agree with mr mahre, and dont see a future in everyone skiing spatula-ish skis in the park, thats all.

They were actually riding a regular Made'n/AK Enemy made in the Hellbent press, so they were only 108 underfoot.

And bigwhite_steeze...if you think that fat skis have only been around for 4 years, you are seriously mis-informed...Atomic first made the Powder Plus in 1988 (113-115-122), and a year after that Volkl began work on the Explosiv (118-94-110), which is still regarded as one of the best powder skis ever made. So fat skis have likely been been around longer than you have been skiing, and possibly longer than you've been alive, check your history before you speak.

dude, stop trying to argue for the sake of arguing. Scratches are park skis, regardless of how many times you still use them or how they fit into your quiver.

thats not what he's arguing, ever since pep posted about rockered park skis being the future everyone wanted to try them, supposedly they butter like nothing else and people  who have ridden hellbents in the park have said great things. this is just an attempt to try and get something like that, who gives a shit if they are scratches or not, if it works they will still be fun.

Anyone who read this thread knows these kids are taking old PARK SKIS and trying to make them rockered. No explanation necessary there, I know what they are doing and never said they weren't doing so. I'm not jealous of the kid, I could go out and buy a brand new pair of hellbents if I so pleased.

Nomensteven was just trying to say the scratch FS and salomon whatevers people are trying to put rocker on are not park skis, since they aren't using them daily in the park now. He was just trying to argue the fact i used "park skis", rather than "older twin-tips which are now used less often" or something which in my opinion is just arguing for the sake of arguing.

my fujatives lost all their camber and one went reverse, and they sucked, just too floppy and squirlely, i could ski straight down the hill and turn my reverse camber one on the snow with no effect to my straightlining a groomer. now if you had a ski that was a bit stiffer, this could be fun, cause my fujis sucked for everything but buttering, say a mothership TI if anyone has a pair they don't use anymore, those would be sick.

you guy need to deffintally heat up the skis so the glue inside and remold to the shape you want i used a heat gun and some 2x4s and some clamps to set up my old troublemakers with a rocker and i haven't had any structure issues so far but thats the best way that i have found so far.

yeah im going to have to try the heat, ive had my old t-halls in the basement for a week now, the tips/tails are about 4 inches off the ground and i have about 225 lbs. on them, but when i took the weight off the check the process they only look to have lost all camber, no reverse camber yet, but they seem stiffer then they used to be, beats me?

i said moship tis because they have a titanium sheet through most of the ski, which would hold the bend better, also, they were 97 in the 182 and 192 sizes.

Yes, metal would hold the bend better, but I think it'd also make them quite a bit stiffer(the whole point of adding metal to a ski), and therefore it wouldn't butter like the Hellbent or a soft ski with rocker. Therefore, making it less fun on groomers, and taking it back to it's roots: powder skiing.

just to add my imput i think this is a sweet idea/ concept. i think the mo ship ti would be prime for the stair bend. otherwise they need to be heated up. if you had like a kiln or something to heat them up to just before the lowest melting point it would be super prime to just take them out then and set up that book bend idea. just a thought.
