so for the first playoff game ottowa slayed pittsburg 6-3... now its time to watch the canucks game, i'm gonna say that the canucks are going to win, just cause I've heard Dallas is doing shitty this year... anyways who else thought that the ottowa game had some heavy hitting... and the canucks just got their first goal, so its 1-0 for canucks and the goal was by D. Sudine... but yah whoever watches hockey we should keep this thread updated... but in my opinion i think the Canucks are going to take the cup home this year.
Current Series Status:
Detroit Red Wings 2 - 0 Calgary Flames
Anaheim Mighty Ducks 3 - 0 Minnesota Wild
Vancouver Canucks 2 - 1 Dallas Stars
Nashville Predators 1 - San Jose Sharks 1
Buffalo Sabres 1 - 1 New York Islanders
New Jersey Devils 1 - 1 Tampa Bay Lightning
Atlanta Thrashers 0 - 2 New York Rangers
Ottawa Senators 2 - 1 Pittsburgh Penguins
If Anaheim wins game 4 I'm going to be telling a lot of people I told them so. Upset, my ass.
Deservedly so. I'm extremely disappointed in how that series is turning out. Oh well, in the past the Wild have been a team that thrives on being on the brink of elimination. They're something like 6-1 in elimination games.
I didn't get to watch it because channel is gay and only broadcasts to the cities. But yeah, I'm pumped that they won, especially in such a decisive way. It really should have been 5-0, because the Ducks scored on a BS power play (sure you can call roughing, but call it even. If guys on both sides are doing it, call it on both sides.) and the goal called off was complete bullshit. I'm pumped to watch the game tomorrow. Now that the Wild have a spark, I hope they'll be able to take one in the Ducks building.
canucks fans, would you rather detroit beat calgary and have the wings play nashville or sj in the second round (we would play anaheim) or would you rather the flames came back so they play anaheim and we play either the preds or sharks?
Ah fuck, Anaheim wins game and series 4-1. It was a pretty good series. A couple calls and bounces go a different way and it could be the Wild winning the series tonight. Minnesota definitely would have needed some semblance of a power play though.
So I know a lot of you really don't like Crosby. I'm not a huge fan either, but after reading this, you have to give him a lot of respect.
"April 21, 2007
PITTSBURGH (AP) -- NHL scoring champion Sidney Crosby played the final 2 1/2 weeks of the regular season and the playoffs with a broken left foot, an injury the Pittsburgh Penguins star didn't disclose until Saturday.
Crosby revealed the injury when he explained why he won't play in the world championships in Moscow. Crosby was expected to join Team Canada for the second year in a row after Pittsburgh was eliminated by Ottawa in the first round of the NHL playoffs.
Crosby believes he broke a bone in the foot while blocking a shot March 16 against Montreal, but he didn't miss any games. He had five goals and nine assists in his final 11 regular season games and three goals and two assists in five playoff games.
"The first two weeks were pretty sore," Crosby said as the Penguins players assembled Saturday before breaking for the summer. "After a couple of weeks, it starts to heal and it got a little better after that. It just needs time. ... After a couple of weeks, it didn't have any effect."
The game after he was hurt, Crosby had a goal and an assist against Ottawa on March 18 but then went scoreless in his next three games. Less than two weeks after getting hurt, he had two goals and an assist March 25 against Boston and a goal and an assist March 27 against Washington.
Crosby was in discomfort at times during the playoffs, but made certain he would not worsen the injury by playing.
Despite getting hurt, the 19-year-old Crosby became the youngest player to win the NHL scoring title with 120 points.
Crosby is disappointed he won't play in the world championships, where he was the leading scorer last year with eight goals and eight assists in nine games.
"It would have been a huge thrill to play for Team Canada," he said.
Next season, Crosby will be entering the final year of the three-year entry-level contract he signed after being drafted in 2005. He is hopeful of working out a new deal so he won't become a restricted free agent following the 2007-08 season."
yeah... but those injuries, the ones you hear about when the player's season is done, always get blown out of proportion. i do give him credit, don't get me wrong. that was a physically and mentally tough injury to play through, especially at his level of play, and given the time of year. but, and this is me speculating, it must have been a non weight bearing bone, and he more than likely didn't feel a thing until he took his skates off after each game. after all, crosby's greatest attribute is his powerful skating.. if he's applying the full amount of force he's capable of with each full skating stride and skating at top speed, which he looked to be doing, then the broken bone in his foot is clearly a non-issue... or not as much of an issue as the media has already made it out to be.
Detroit vs. San Jose
Anaheim vs. Vancouver
Buffalo vs. New York Rangers
New Jersey vs. Ottawa
Detroit vs. San Jose: Detroit in 6. They don't seem to get rattled, and San Jose may have had a little longer rest but they got beat up in those 5 games. I don't think we've seen the best out of the Wings yet.
Anaheim vs. Vancouver: I hate to do this, I want it to be Canucks taking it again, but I have to call Anaheim in 5. The Canucks are tired, and haven't proven to me that they can be consistent. If it was hard to score against Zubov and Sydor, it's going to be a nightmare against Pronger and Niedermayer.
Buffalo vs. NYR: Buffalo in 5 again. They're too damn good. The Rangers are playing great, but Atlanta didn't capitalize on any of their chances. Give Buffalo a chance and it's in the back of the net.
Ottawa vs. NJ: Ottawa in 6. If it goes to 7 this one gets harder to call. I'm still not sure how the Senators will deal with real adversity, but they're scoring, playing with confidence and Brodeur has looked beatable.
Detroit vs. San Jose
Anaheim vs. Vancouver
Buffalo vs. New York Rangers
New Jersey vs. Ottawa
Detroit vs. San Jose: Detroit in 5. The wing dominate in hockeytown and san jose isnt good enough at home to give them a good series.
Anaheim vs. Vancouver: Anaheim in 6. The Ducks showed they are stanley cup worthy, cleaning out the wild in 5, with home field advantage, vancouver doesnt have what it takes to win.
Buffalo vs. NYR: NYR in 6. Buffalo is so incredibly over rated i wouldnt say they dominated the islanders at all where as teh rangers fucking dominated the thrashers. Rangers with catch Buffalo off guard and win in at home in the 6th game.
Ottawa vs. NJ: NJ in 6, bodeur is so experience and will have a great series, ottawa is good but not stanley cup worthy.
haha all straight except the Rangers will not lose man, they have an unreal offensive lineup with Jagr as a leader as well as Lundquist in the net, nothing getting by him, I will agree with the Devils view and contradict myself because those points are straight, and thats also the series i care least about, I mean no offense but I dont see either of those two teams in the finals
