How fast did you come back from a broken leg?

I broke my fibula about 8 weeks ago now. I'm out of the cast and walking. I went ice skating last night and seemed to be OK. Doctor told me no impact activity until 11 weeks. What do you guys think? I really want to go, Snowbird is closing up April 30th.

Wow, that sucks man but I guess it depends on when you think it's legit enough to use. Also the more manly you are, the faster wounds heal. SO STOP BEING A VAG!

i broke my tibia (the other bone in yo leg) and it took 3 months in a cast then another month with a leg brace... after that the season was already over but i tried skating and it fucking killed... (lots of impact with that though)... i dunno u might be able to just cruise some groomers but u are the best judge of if you are ready or not...

try groomers first and work ur way u gradually but remember if you break again cause it wasn't finished healing it going to hurt like gorrilla in ur behind, and ull probably be out fur a while then u have to go through rehab again.

I broke my Tibia earlier in the year, in September i think. I was out for 6-8 weeks with a boot on and then was out for another 8 weeks after i got the boot off. I went jumping and stuff around Mid January and it felt good. You may want to back off a little bit because itll be a little weak when you try anything.
How bad of a break was it?

Wasn't a bad break at all. Didn't have to have the bone set or anything like that. Maybe I'll post a scan of my x-rays. Ha ha.

what the fuck are you talking about? you can ski on a broken fibula.
I can't believe they put you in a cast for such a non-injury.
Just go ski.

let it fully heal first, cause if you rebreak it you're back to square one

Obviously you never broke a fibula before.
As long as the joint in your ankle is untouched, you should be fine. First of all that bone is not really needed, you can live without. Secondly, already after a few days the bone will have grown back thicker at that point so there is no chance in Hell you will rebreak it at that point. So you don't need to worry about returning to square one.
However it takes 6 months up to a year for that thickened part to fully return to normal, which is my it may hurt for a long time, but you can take painkillers for that.
I broke my fibula last season and I skied on it the next day and every day after. Never had a problem. The doctor told me many people break their fibula without ever noticing it.

lucky you just broke your fibula. the tibia is the one that heals slowly. i broke them both and i was in four casts over the span of 3 and a half months. and i couldnt run cc which was like three months after all my casts were done.

If im right, the tibia is the bigger one, not the fibula, so it should be pretty much close to better. Just don't do anything stupid: I'd stay away from all park, but Snowbird owns so you'll have fun skiing all over the mountain

Wow, so maybe I should just go then. You think my doctor is just being extra-cautious in telling me to wait until I hit about 12 weeks?

Funny i broke my tibia all the way through and never noticed it was broken till 3 days later. All i had was a boot.
I guess everyones healing rates are diffrent than everyone elses.

wheeeeeeellll... i broke my femur skiing, and it took a while. but then that's cuz the frenchies put me in a cast up to just above the break, it healed wonky, and when i got back to england the docs had to REBREAK IT. which was nice. so i was in traction for 6 weeks, then in cast #2 for a good few more.

i just broke my femur right above my knee and its been 2 and a half weeks since surgery and im sposed to be in wheelchair/crutches for another 6-8 weeks and then start weight bearing (w. crutches) for like 3 weeks and then start walkin with a cane til i can lose it. so they said by july ill be good to go

I find it extreme that he put you in a cast to begin with. Are you sure you only broke the fibula?

haha, yeah a broken fib is fucking week. i was walking around with a completely non conected fibula after i broke my tib fib. i had a rod in there and at 3 months was kinda walking with NO BONE GROTH. that is both the tib and fib weren't healed. the tib was starting to heal and the fibula didn't fully heal for like 10 months, due to the severity of the tib's break. i wasn't skiing for a year. hell i couldn't walk without a bad limp for over 9 months.
basicly the way my doc said it was that your fibula is like your tonsels. you don't need it.
so with that said, fucking go skiing. if it hurts too much, then don't ski, but you aren't going to completely fuck yourself.
and if y0ou want to see a pic of my broken leg check it in my pictures.
