mmm..It's kinda of an endless discussion, but why is religion necessary to inforce all those good feelings in you? Religions sets parameters and according to them we now determine what is good or bad. I don't think your practice of faith just happens to be the same way as a catholic's.
I am not a religious person. I did go to church more than once and I felt exactly as the other guy you quoted. I think religion works more as a way for people to rely on something greater than them. I do appreciate the fact that at least religious figures are still respected and therefore can mediate in any kind of conflict. However it does freak me out that people blindly believe in something that is purely based on faith. I really don't believe in the bible as a legitimate source. Also the fact that there are many other religions I think defeats the whole ideology...
Anyways...It's too complicated...
I don't care what happens to me after death though. Why worry about it, I figure. I just live my life for now. Heaven and hell don't exist so why worry?
