seems someon plagerised the dedication in the year book... it's pretty sad, but what makes it more funny is that everyone in school knew, except for the teachers. no body cared, and now it's in the newspaper... simply... wow. -Pat WBP|films

^ point was it was a year book read by students and teachers within the highschool.
not TA's and profs grading a paper at a university level.
i know my school had a movie themed yearbook lastyear, with movie quotes and everything. they wernt cited or quoted from any movie, so cant that be considered plagorizing?
im not saying at all that the person didnt have the ability to think up their own original material but there has been so many original ideas produced that it is near impossible for a young student to think up something completely original on their own, hence how this student probably borrowed a minor idea froma website, and now hes getting screwed for it.

Remember too, that a yearbook is an archived document, a public record, that exists as a snapshot of a particular time, school, and class, hence my last comment. i.e. Potentially, it can reach a much greater audience than the intended students and teachers who bought it.
When I think of what happened, the student involved, what they did; I am not surprised. I've noticed an increase in the number of students who actually expect me to do their homework for them because I'm an authoritative source on such and such, and sending a quick email is SO MUCH easier than actually looking up the info themselves.
This forum is another example. How many times do people post the SAME question when it was just answered 5-10 threads below? Symptomatic of some bigger issues, that's all.
