Alcohol poisoning

wow my freind last night came kind of close i think to alcohol posinoing. he may have had it we dont know cause we didnt want to take him to the hospital and get busted but we're pretty sure cause he wasnt like throwing up or anything. in the end he came out fine so we were all glad we didnt make the call to take him to er or call the police or somethin

has anyone else had experiences with alcy poisining or your friends?

im pretty sure in order to get alcohol poisoning there has to be some puking involved. my friend to weighs about 130 lbs at the time drank 22 shots of whiskey 100 proof. almost died. was puking his guts up, couldnt function at all. not fun.

im not a doctor but from what you described it sounds like your friend was just tanked, not alc poisoning

Fyi: alco poisoning is technacly when you start puking because your body has poison (alcohol) in it and its trying to get rid of it, but now my story.


In about sophomore year, the age where 8-10 people could get drunk on a half gallon, i was DD for a dance and one of my friends drank a lot of vodka (a lot for then) and he was passed out on the wall in the dance about half way through. Long story short, two drunk people carried him to another DD drivers car and he pukes all in his car, and we then took him to a friends house whos parents were gone so he could chill out and have a place to recover. So then in a drunken mumbles he says to call his mom and we are like OMG NO because we are stupid 15 to 16 year olds that dont want to get in trouble. So now hes shivering hard core and passes out on the bathroom floor, we call his older sister (like 20) no answer, tried her bf, no answer. We were very close to calling an ambulance but he stopped shivering and was chill so it worked out. He freaked out when he woke up because he didn't know where he was and he was hung over all day. Coulda made it longer, but there is no point to that now is there.

yea sounds like he was just pretty hammered but poisoning isn't something to play around with...if you think theres a good chance its worth it to take them to the er...and while if your young you're gonna get busted by your parents i can almost guarantee the cops won't get involved unless your parents call them

yah man, if your puking and theres black chunks then your on your way to being fucked up.. so yah you have to puke to be posened.. i weight like 145 i drank a 26 of vodka to my self one night... and also had 6 beers... i was pretty fucked up never had poisening tho.. so your friend was just being a pussy...

can some one explain what a 26 or like 40 is? Is it a measure of volume, like a litre?

Well, I think I got pretty close to it...I drank a half of 26er and a lot of wine in a drinking game 3 man. All I knew is that I puked for 12 hours and in serious stomac pain for 48hrs

whatever dude, i've done stuff like that before, and i only weigh 160-165 lbs.  it all depends on how much you've been drunk before.  the more you get drunk, the higher your tolerance gets.  hell, the other day i had a 26 of rum and i wasn't really that fucked up by normal standards, and i'm by no means considered a tank when compared to some of my friends.  something tells me that you're like 15 and have been drunk maybe twice.

i got alcohol poisoning saturday night i almost went to the hopital but my gf just kept making me puke so i came out fine but im never drinking again

Alcohol poisoning is really not something to be messing with...if someones that far gone then get someone sober to tak care of them and get them help. You will not always puke before reaching the danger point. Puking is your bodies reaction to trying to rid itself of the poisons in the system, but if the effects kick in and you black out before that, it will just remain in there and keep getting worse. I know too many stories from paramedic and fire fighter friends of kids getting drunk to the point of near death...and they figure that only a small percentage of cases actually ever get called in. Drinking to death does not make for good party stories.

agreed, most hospitals are happy that you did the right thing and brought your friend in for treatment instead of possibly letting him die

I must be confused on what a 26 is, cause i thought he meant 26 shots and 6 beers. I've never heard of a 26 though. And I'm not 15, I'm in college and drink regularly, i've just never met some who could drink 26 shots and 6 beers.

On the subject, I have once drank starting at 4pm, then ended up playing a drinking game and chuggin something like 250ml of vodka...last thing I remember. The pictures tell I was pretty messed up, as my friends only had to shake my arms to make me puke. The hangover I had the next day, which involved loads of more throwing up, was enough for me not to do it again, and I have since then only got sick once without drinking very much either (was 1.5 years ago)

yeah not alcohol poisoning, he was just tanked, worst memory ever was going out to the bars and getting plastered, the only time i have ever blacked out, ha i was 16 y/o on my first trip to europe and had no parents or anyone with us. I got up the morning and ran straight to the can...beer shits, half way into my shit i had to boot, i reach for the garbage, my roommate pissed in the trash can, i just let it go in the tub, that whole day skiing i wanted to kill myself, falling in 2ft of pow never hurt so bad

Guys weight doesnt play much of a factor here. You could weight 200lbs and be 4ft nothing(so really Fat) and drink less. also the tolerance just means you dont feel the booze till later. The amount you can drink depends on numerous things such as the physical shape your in, so a fat person cant drink as much a guy who goes to the gym everyday adn is in tiptop shape.its all because of water in your body. Also the mood your in affects the amount you can drink believe it or not, also how much you drink and for how long(night wise). If you start at early and drink slowly you will drink more but if you start drinking at 10 and finish you 6 pack at 11 then your gonna get drunk faster. There are so many different aspects that yuo need to look at. Weighing so many pounds doesnt play a big of a roll as you think.
