Basiclly, ever since i was about 12 I promised myself that I would move to whistler for about a year and just ski. I'm gonna finish college this May and so i wanna head out soon afterwards, around september. But the only plan i really have is to get a job as a waiter (i have experience in that), work the night life, and ski that day. So what i'm asking for is some advice or heads up on how i should survive out there, when i should leave, how much money i need, places were i can stay, etc. Thanks alot!
Ya dude... definately come early and with money to live off for a while. Because you will either have a job and get no work for a while until it gets busy. Or not have a job at all and then get one when it gets busy.
Might I also suggest turning into a girl... that improves you chances for a job/place to live by 10 times.
Im thinking about doing the same, applying for a job at whistler sometime in may? Hotel Jobs, or a liftie... Living in Staff Housing, whats the feedback guys, im also from Ontario, and i play to come out November, right when my job starts.
November is too late if you want to live in staff. I came november the 10th and I was like number 156 on the staff waitlist. If you can, get a job before you even arrive. They do recruitment drives, I met a dude from whistler back at the ski show in toronto last year. But the whole key, the earlier the better.
Whistlers played, it's all about timing and in a two years i'll be making about $60 an hour, and living somewhere else spending my vacations skiing powder in Utah, or heli skiing in the interior, I'm not too worried about whistler anymore...
