i liked alta better than snowbird becasue it had more snow and alta is less busy. But if you want a park go to snowbird but when i was there there park was super small but then again it was the start of the seasson
alta: more sick terrain, but bird= excellent terrain in less quantity (not a local, so maybe just didnt find everything. alte, nobody, bird: guay tram that you have to wait like 30 minutes to get in on busy days
there both so sick id really try to go to both. i spent 2 days at each and i liked snowbird better until i skied alta with a local and then he showed me some sweet shit. Now i couldnt really pick between the 2.
from wat i've heard the 16" that fell was fairly wet snow aka "base building snow" which probably already has turned into hardpack and there are no major storms forecasted until after prez weekend i so wish i was going 1-2 weeks after prez weekend as forecast is looking sweet for then...
alta is sick, much better then the bird. no boarders and its true to the roots, old school > sell outs at snowbird. Can't beat the high traverse and Alta's backside, all snowbird's got goin for it is mineral basin in my opinion, but this was in mid january when there wasn't a ton fresh pow either. Ballroom and wildcat woods will beat the bird anyday, and the backside of high rustler is sick just traverse till there arent any more tracks. frontside of snowbird is steep but when there isn't snow it's rock hard and scraped off.
i went on monday when they were getting that storm with a guide and it was by far the sickest ski day of my life and we didnt even look at a rail or man made jump we just drop 10-25ft cliffs all dayy long
i am a preaty advanced skier and shit but would it be worth it to get liek a ski instructor to show you so sick spots ont the mounatain. or so sweet spots backcounrty.
