just go to a ski swap, or something similar and pick up some cheap composite poles. They wont break nearly as easily as aluminum, and are usually very light. Or if you're real cheap, cruise the ski racks at your locak hill after the lifts stop turning, and snag a pair of forgotten ones. if they're too long, you can always cut them down.
