Hi, i just started skiing in the park this year and i bought some of last years Salomon Guns. The Guns seemed kind of heavy after i went through the park in some lighter feeling carvers. So i was just wondering, before i tried out some other skis, what you guys think makes a good ski to take out in the park. I LOVE skiing in the park so i was just wondering what some things to look for are when im looking at getting some park skis. Thanks for any advice!

guns are good, they might be a little wide for ya, they are more of a powder skis, If you like Salomon i suggest some foils, they rip all mountain

im gonna try again, The guns are good skis , they are a little on the wide side but still are overall good skis. You want a park ski that has a softer nose, and a tail that is stiff for some pop. Check out these skis, not only good in the park, but when you get out of thepark, they perform well too

definitions of what makes a good park ski will be different for almost everyone. but skis that are DESIGNED with mostly park in mind tend to be softer, usually not super wide, have mounting points further up the ski or possibly in the dead center of the ski(ex. line invaders and fischer addicts are completely semetrical and designed to be mounted in the dead center of the ski). again it has a lot to do with personal preference especially when it comes to stiffness and width.

Hey! Thanks for all the advice so fast! I just made an account on Newschoolers.com like 30 minutes ago while working up here at Mt. Hood Meadows and i appriciate all the speedy helpful advice. What are some more of the characteristics that some of you guys look for while you guys are picking out some skis for the park? I have just a few mm back from a center mount on my Guns. Is the center mount pretty essential for park riding? (I love skiing switch) So i want to see what some of you guys think about that. Again, thanks for the comments!

pretty much a softer, narrower ski. About 80mm does the trick, but you can go wider. Look at andy and pep, skiing hellbents int he park? Whats the underfoot on those? like 125mm?

mounting closer to center makes it easier to spin, jib and ski switch.

usually DEAD center on a ski that isnt designed to be mounted like that is a bad idea. itll kill the skis normal handling. usually about 2 cm back is money. at least thats what i always liked. again, it is personal preference.

122, but Pep and Andy weren't actually on the Hellbent's...they were this years Ak Enemy (137/108/127) pressed in the Hellbent press, hence the Hellbent's graphic and rocker.

if you can afford to have a pair of park only skis i would center mount them or go close to center. if not than i would go a few cm back from center. i went from 04/05 scratch fs's mounted at the modern line(about 7 cm back from center) to 05/06 scratch fs's(wider and stiffer) mounted 2cm back from center and i love the further up mounting. i do sometimes wish the skis were a little softer but they rock in both the park and on groomed runs(pretty much all there is for me locally)

The center of the running length of the ski is ideal for all-out park in my opinion, then you have equal tip and tail touching the snow. This was 1.5cm back of true center on my 179 Silencers. If you mount at true center you end up with more tail than tip.
