Good luck and whatever you do... the first few days or so, even if there's no pain, DO NOT WALK ON IT! Your meds are controlling you at that point and once you ease off, you'll realize that you did too much and the pain is SOO much worse than it would have been if you had just sat on the couch.
that's all. good luck!

bloodninja: Rhinoceruses don't play games. They f*cking charge your ass.
j_gurli3: stop, cmon be serious.
bloodninja: It doesn't get any more serious than a Rhinocerus about to charge your ass.
Good luck dude, its not so bad.
You better learn to love the gym though...
It's never too cold for icecream.

anyone know anything about smoking weed post-surgery? my pre-op nurse said that i needed to stop for some reasons...(just not sure how critical this is). anyway i was really counting on blazing as a painkiller
dude that sucks! at lease you will get some good pain killers!
i like pow pow!
so i have to have surgery on my acl, pcl, lateral and articulate cartliage and my meniscus. my question is did anybody actaully go to physical therapy for the whole time? my ins is picking up about all the bill so i want to mooch therapy as much as i can, but i didnt know if it actually made a difference after the first month or not?
thats a bummer man
I love NS
I've heard that it really slows down the healing process (just word of mouth).
as for advice: start physio as soon as your surgeon says you can and take it really seriously

Wow...I had the SAME exact surgery in 2003! I used cadavar grafts for the acl/pcl and mcl.
Rehab was a huge bitch and I lost a huge amount of muscle mass on that leg.
I was a 120day a year skier prior to the injury and it took nearly two-years to feel confident on the new knee.
Your PCL will never feel the same, your tibia will have some wiggle to it no matter how good your surgeon is. But once you get your muscle mass back it will feel OK.
To answer your question - Go to physio and then go to your gym and do the same for 100x longer -
If your PT has you doing a dozen leg lifts and 30 minutes on a bike - go home and do 200 leg lifts and 2 hours on the bike
I was able to bear weight within 4-weeks - the doctors did not "clear" me for 10-weeks
Listen to your body, stay super healthy and blast it at the gym....
You are gonna lose a ton of stength and flexibilty in that knee - you have to over compensate for it afterwards
im me if you have any questions
If you are smart and knowledgebale about your knee/rehab phsyio is important but not crucial - go a few times - learn from them and then do it on your own
doing nothing with possibly cost you another season or two
