The 70's and 80's
So, you know those songs that you know from when you're a little kid (maybe your parents listened to them or maybe you heard them on the radio etc.)? The ones from the 70's and 80's that you can alwayas sing along to but you don't have a single clue what the songs name is or who the artist is? I was recently very relieved when some older people gave me the names for a few of them. It's a great feeling. Anyway, who has some song names and stuff that we may know but wouldn't have had a chance to listen to otherwise?
yeah, i just found out that that song, 'magic carpet ride' is by steppenwolfe this week

I grew up listening to Culture Club and Ace of Base... but I always knew the songs because I had the tapes. Yeah tapes!

James Brown. Holy shit this man cool
my most vivid musical memory is of my dad listening to money for nothing by dire straits. whenever i hear that song, i think of the old house in the ghetto we had with brown and yellow linoleum in the kitchen and bathrooms.

'Dude, check out this nasty gouge.'
'Your mom has a nasty gouge.'
'He's from Quebec. They pee on the lawn.'
now that we know kami was brought up listening to boy george, it explains some things..
my parents made me listen to rafi when i was little, and micheal jackson.
yah man. I grew up on Van Morrison, Neil young, CSNY, Bob Dylan, and all the good ol stuff. Shit man, I used to dislike it but now I totally think it's cool. I love the fact that it brings up memories. And any reggae I hear reminds me of when I used to live i the Islands so that always cheers me up... I'll go back one day, I swear.
i grew up on the eagles and jimmy buffet.
^^ thos bands as well. also, the steve miller band and stuff.
I grew up on mainly the Stones, Miles Davis and Lou Reed (the last artist might explain some things about me).
Hahaha... childhood music memories. I don't know if any of you guys are farmiliar with Strangefolk... but if you are... yeah my parents would take me to Strangefolk every summer. I was a little baby hippie girl. That and Neil Young, Dylan, Alice Cooper for the love of God. I used to go to therapy as a child, one of the reasons being I was having severly corrupted images... this was after my dad thought watching The Wall with his 6 yeard old daughter would be a great bonding experience. I love my family.
