Dear hippies,
   I think its time we talked.
There is no snow, because youre hippies and the snow gods hate hippies.
Global warming is gods way of hating on tree hugging mountain lovers. Im sorry things ended up this way, I truley am. Cause I knwo your cause is a great and noble one. Saving the planet one day at a time... buying heavily chemicaled fuel to power your way to the mountain where you clear cut trees, and disrupt migration patterns. Its a shame that ice melts, it really is. Its a shame that the earth warms and cools over time in a sort of cycle. its a shame that greenhouse emissions are speeding up the process, but look at it this way...

                  the faster we get to the hot part, the faster we get to the cold part!

   Its also a shame that the hippies are winning... sure having our mountains run on solar and wind power where possible is a fantastic idea, and no water toilets are all the rage. But I want a hotdog and a coke for lunch, not an all natural penguin and porpoise free tuna salad samwich for 11 bux with some wheatgrass. I love my snow, I love my nature and I love my mountains too... but oh dear hippies, please learn the wisdom of knowing what is beyond your control. Because the next time one of you gets in my face about me spitting my gum out off the chairlift, then drives home in your '81 accord with no muffler, turns on your fire place, cranks the heat, and does whateevr  else you hippocrates do, I will fuck your shit up... and then blame it on global warming.

I hope you find happyness, you smelly, sheepish hippies.

pretty much, global warming is a catch phrase, climate change is the real deal.
Because of the rockie mountains proximity to so many high pressure systems.. a number that grows by the year, there is more likely hood of more snow in the west.
Filthy hippies wouldnt be so mad if they lived in the west.

I just made all that up, but since i rule so much, im right anyways.

I skied knee deep all day yesterday, I dont see any global warming in my part of the globe. Still is cold, still snows a buckeload.

ps. just because y ou have dreads and smoke lots of herb doesnt make you a hippie, it just makes you a dirty sheepish loser. At least hippies have the nerve to standup for what they belive in, even though they are dumb. bah!

Interesting comment for someone who lives in Calgary. There's what, maybe 1cm of snow on the ground at the start of January. We used to see massive snowbanks on the sides of the roads at this time of year.

Get back to us in a few years when the Bow river ceases to exist because Bow Glacier is gone.

If you knew anything about global warming, you'd know that it's a mixed bag for skiers and not all about ice melting. when all that ice melts in the polar ice caps, it will wind up in the Atlantic Ocean, where the currents depend on a particular structure of water temperature. No one knows what will happen, but a likely (and widely feared) scenario is that the gulf stream will shut down, cutting off the flow of warm water that keeps Europe from looking like Northern Canada (the latitude is the same, it's the Gulf Stream that makes Europe different than the land around the Hudson Bay).
The planet might not be "fighting back," but it's also not "just sitting there" either.

bro i havnt seen a snowbank in calgary in january in ten years, ten years ago no one was saying anything about global warming.
calgary is part of a rather dry desert climate... so its dry as it is. I was talking about the mountains, where there is record snow.

Used to is the operative word there.
well see them one day again.
glaciers melt if they didnt there would stillbe wooly mammoths and sabre tooth tigers son. The water table is the highest its been in over 100 years. YOu can look that one up, its a fact. Who gives a shit if the city gets snow? wanna jib? go to one of the 100 rinks in calgary and get snow. wanna get in an accident with the horrible drivers in calgary... pray the snow leaves the mountains and comes to the city. or go to cop where the park is amazing and about to be redone and be way better, bigger, and awesomer!

Ten years, exactly. Not all of us are 16. And people have been talking about global warming for much longer than ten years, it's only recently that anyone has started to pay attention.

Before the last ten years, Calgary had big snowbanks, that's the entire point.

And sorry, but the COP park is slipping fast, the pipe was great for the first couple of weeks but all the meltage from the last two weeks has beat it down. They cant even keep any vert on it now and everyone at the event this weekend had to step down their amplitude bigtime and it was still a deckfest.

If they don't get some snow or cold weather soon the park is going to go to shit.

Just because the west got hit by some sick storms so far doesn't mean that we won't get fucked next year. Whistler rained to the top on the 27th, and a couple of years ago it got pretty much washed away in January.

And where exactly did you look up your "fact" about the water table, the toilet store? Maybe if you could remember more than the last 10 years you could go stand at the banks of the Bow River and see where the level used to be.

I dont remember there being snowbanks... in a long long long long time.
the last time I do, I was 17 and it was in march. late late march, and it just snowed 4 feet out of no where.

look it up, the water table is higher now than it has been in a long time. Seriously look it up. The level of the fucking filthy bow... oh wait, I get it, youre a hippie, you dont know whats really up.

and remember no one here said there isnt climate change happening.... no one.
Also I dont care about next year, nuclear war could wipe us all out, then who will be worried about global warming during nuclear winter? I care about right now, it will get cold, they will blow new snow at cop.  and youre a dirty hippie... NEXT

Either way, hook me up with your college, I know a couple of retarded kids who's mother and father were brother and sister. Any school foolish enough to let you escape with a degree would probably hook them up with PHDs and doctorates.
