dude, when im about to do a new trick for the first time i stand at the top of the inrun for like at least 15 minutes and try not to get freaked out. also i repeat stuff like 'fear is the mind killer' and 'what one man can do, another can do'
how do you cope with trying new shit on skis?

i get scared as shit, and everything seems so much higher off the ground. ya try to do stupid shit like swearing at the jump or rail and otherwise just commit. also its a lot easier to try new stuff w/ friends around. u get a little bit of adrenaline.

once u can ski midwest dirt and grass, you can call yourself good

after hurting myself pretty bad some times i realized it is not worth it if you arent feeling right, normally if things have been going bad for me that day or i just dont fell right i will leave it and othere wise i will just visualize it and do it, but i definately get scared alot

smuggs has got it right. You got to take yourself to a higher level.

It's been said before. What makes Tanner Hall and many other riders so great is their mindset. When Tanner comes up to a jump he's in a game.

Ya he could get hurt and I'm sure he realizes it, but it's the last thing he thinks about.
He concentrates on letting his body do what comes natural.

Stare at that jump on the way up, and put yoruself above it all. You can do it. The only thing you have to fear is fear itself.
Tell that jump, 'who is your daddy?'
Now own it.

i say, take smart risks, if u know u cant do a switch rodeo 7 for ur life, dont fuckin try one, ull get hurt, but if ur standing up there gettin freaked out about doing somthing ur fairly sure u can do, just picture a hot girl, get that testosterone pumpin and nail that motha fucka

but really just be confident in ur ability, only try stuff u think u have a chance of doing without getting hurt, this dosnt mean dont do something if ur gonna fall on it, thats not gonna help u at all except that itll make u one of the most catious people on the hill, and before u know it, u got 8 year olds showin u up, safety is not about not falling, its about walking away, be careful but dont be careless (haha i quoted a disney movie) u just gotta go for some things and let others wait until tomorow, this applies to most everything in life, so to sum that up, have confidence, but dont be stupid

another thing, the way u get best is to take as many runs u can, u just warm up in the morning and start a run, and as the day goes on u just keep modifying it and making it just a little different or more difficult, if u dont have time to consider all the possibilties of things that could go wrong then they most likely wont happen, eventually ull hit the peak of ur day and grow tired, but thats inevitable, and above all just go out to have fun, its not a contest to be the best in the long run, thats no fun, and if it aint fun it aint worth it

this may be a hard thing to do with friends, but it all depends on what u wanna do and where u wanna go with things, sometimes training may not be fun, but itll improve u almost no matter what

Ghost Dragon said some good stuff. Like some people said before, i just do what i think i am capable of doing. I like to add little variations of tricks i can stick little by little untill i get totally confident. They i will try some other stuff. Its not about how many spins you can do or whatever. It is about how well you do your spins and throwing in the grabs and making it look good. Its all about the style. Dont forget that
