Binding re-mount question

Ok I have some 1080's spaceframes right now (161cm) I have really shitty bindings on them ( I was really eager ot mount them when they came in the mail and I only had 100$ for bindings. Anyhow I will be remounting them with something beefier this summer ( I've broken the bindings 4 times in two months of skiing) I was wondering if it was safe to mount them so the boot line matches the exact center of the ski. There was a manufcatuers recommended mounting position which I used to mount the original bindings. What kind of dangers do I run into by mounting perfect center also what kind of characteristics would this mounting lead to all info appreicated thanks.

I'm not sure I was afriad of that cuz I break skis alot anyway. All I know is your not supposed to try to use the same holes, or directly near the previous ones. (whole binding rips out)

it really isn't too good for it. the structure of the ski is designed so that it is most stiff directly under the binding, but center mounting it could mess that up. besides, i dont remember the 1080's mounting point being too far back...just my 2 cents.

No remounting does not weaken your ski.
If you remount like 6 times then it starts to weaken the ski but remounting 3 or 4 times is not a problem.
First make sure you plug the old holes so water doesnt get in th ski.
Then when you decide where to remount make sure that you are not going to drill on top of a plug.
The new holes should be at least 3 mm away from any previous holes.
Since you want to mount on the center of the ski the only thing you want to make sure of is that the bit is not too long cus the ski is thickest right where it was desighned to be mounted and then thins out in both directions from there. If your mounting 3 cm or less fromm the recomended position shouldnt be a problem just make sure anyway by holding the bit next to the ski near where it is to be drilled. A 4.5 x 9 bit should be fine.
I guess thats it.
Are you planning on mounting this ski yourself?
if so i hope you have a bit desighned for mounting skis and a jig and all. I wouldnt recomend mounting your own skis without the proper equiptment.
If your taking it to a shop they should know all the stuff i just said and its there responsibility. If your worried about the ski being weakened dont cust it takes a lot of holes to weaken a ski especially a foam ski.

i wouldnt re-drill any ski more than 3 times, cause thats a lot of holes. I would think the 1080's would ski kinda weird center-mount. They are pretty close already anyway

dude the more holes you have the lighter the ski will be and you will be able to jump higher. Also as Homer Simpson has taught us after drilling his car with a pick axe

Well the 1080 spaceframe there is a center section on the ski about 18 inches big that is elevated from the rest of the ski it kidna looks like you could mount anywhere on that platform

Thats where you want to mount it still be carefull specially on that spaceframe crap foam.
It dimples real easy if the hole or screw is too big.

I wouldn't centre-mount skis that aren't designed for a centre mount - your cavring will be fucked up because your foot will be forward of the waist.
As for remounting, I took my S900s off my old Skogens and had them put on V-Pros, then a year later I bought some more S900s and had them screwed into the old holes on the Skogens with some wood glue and I've had no problems at all. But seeing as the PR is foam core, I'm not sure if bindings would hold in them if you remounted in the same holes.
I think the best thing to do (if you're wnaintg to mount in the same place) would be to get some Look/Rossi bindings so that it's a different pattern (I don't think ther will be any collisions in hole-placement.
