Full jaime pierre world record cliff huck video now on TGR.com
It is spirtual for him. Have some respect ass hole. You would never do it and you wouldn't even have the courage to change your life and believe in God, let alone go off a 240 foot cliff. so maybe you should stfu.
And to all the people who are saying he's stupid. It's a little insane, but pierre was smart about it waiting for the perfect conditions and the right amount of snow to hit it. I think he had been waiting 1or 2 years. props to jamie for it, and it should stand as a real record. As long as you can ski away, which he did. I think it would be incredible hard to actually get out of a bomb hole from that cliff.
Spiritual? Remember what he said after landing? "I just wanted to have the record, if only for one day." That's fine with me, but let's not make it more than it is. Why doesn't he go build houses in Honduras like Shannon Schad? If you want to get all preachy about something, you better be making a real sacrifice and doing something important. Schannon Schad took a winter off, and he didn't even get preachy! Jamie Pierre didn't sacrifice shit . . . he was risking his life (with a wife and kid at home!) for his own glory. And he had the balls to bring up the sacrifice that Christian's base their entire religion on (i.e. the crucifixion). I'm not religious, but even I find that retarded.
Have you read any of his interviews? He is always saying that he did it as a testament to his faith. sure he may not build houses in honduras, but that doens't mean he doens't serve God or the poor in any other ways. It doens't matter if you are serving homeless at soup kitches or buildings them homes in honduras, it only matters that you are out to seve God and the poor.
Could you explain how Jaime Pierre's stunts help the poor? I'm an atheist, but I would still like to know how the cliff drops serve God, too. I really doubt that young skiers are going to flock to the churches after watching his segment. Someone already pointed out a more likely outcome . . . his segment inspires some misguided kid to die trying the same stunt.
Also, if you think he did the drop to prove his faith, why don't you listen to what he says after landing. He wanted the record. I think he proved his faith long ago after doing a bunch of reckless 150+ drops. And what's so great about throwing your life away because you believe in another life? That's what religious fanatics do.
straight up. Anyone who says the whole religion thing was bullshit or shouldn't have been brought into it or whatever clearly just doesn't understand. Yeh, he wanted the world record, but he wouldn't have done it if it wasn't a spiritual thing for him too. It was clearly something important to him - its his segment, he can make it how he wants, don't knock him for having an opinion or a different belief - everyone does. He is a fucken sick skier, and he's pushing the limits - its dope.
and by the way, i heard the reason why he started to fall back on his drop is because his backpack was too heavy. apparently he had a hardcover holy bible in it.
but its your head thats to heavy, i heard somewhere that it was just falling that far that made him go head first??? something about like a drag chute or something? like he needed one to stay up right....
then again, people jump outta planes and dont go head first..
