i have proven them to be both

1) NOT indestructable
2) useless.

its true put them away.

ya, what the fuck is up with these things? all of a sudden everybody needs a goddam waterbottle to hang of their bags? i don't see the need for a $15-20 plastic bottle.. i've been doing just fine buying a bottle of water, and then using that bottle over and over again. ah well, different strokes i suppose.

I always thought the reason everyone buys them was to support animal trapping. I know those have been my intentions. Trapping animals is good for outdoorsy people, the more animals that are trapped the less chance there is of getting bitten when you're outside. It's a win win situation. Buy Nalgene, support something that matters.

i was standing outside on one of those friggen freezing burlington days like 2 years ago and one of my friends said check this out these things never break and threw it on the ground, it was so cold it shattered everywhere. false advertising.

actually those only those who are true outdoors people know the reasoning behind them.. the wide mouth ones are perfect for fitting water filters on them while hiking or backpacking, and along with what people have said already, i have put a hole in one of mine, but i dont know how, and i believe one of the few ways to bust them is if the temperature is low enough and there is frozen liquid in it...

Nalgenes are sweet, they dont cost 15-20 dollars, i got mine for 6 or something at campmore. They are good for camping, and good for sports cause they hold so much. I actually melted a hole in mine and duct taped it shut

I don't understand everybody all the sudden geting them, but I've had mine for years since I started backpacking, and they ARE nice for school. It was funny cause my school newspaper did an artical on them and on how indestructable they are. You have to admit that they are good for being plastic though..but they melted one, and they smashed one with a ski boot by hitting it over and over again.

they are tough suckers, but i've broken one before, It did take a beating though I put as much wieght as I could on a wieghts machine and stuck it underneath where the bar thing is and dropped all the wieght on it and all it did was bend in half then go back into shape after we took the wieght off. Then i filled it up with water and thew it in the air as high as i could a few times over concrete and it cracked.

those are nalgene bottles. The original is gray, but they make these coloured ones now, and that's what most people have.

people have them and stuff.. i got one in the mail once from a website i apparently was signed-up to.. and my sister put water then put it in the freezer and kicked its ass.. i would never buy one.. i've seen ppl with them.. they're kinda useless

whats wrong with nalgene? its cheaper to buy one for 8 bucks at EMS and fill it with tap water than it is to buy bottled water all the time. they are super durable unless you're a dumbass who finds a way to accidentally throw it 40 feet in the air. plus they fit perfectly in your pack for sessions or back country hiking. hippies are cool, especially when they smoke PCP.

yea i have quite a few i bring it hiking all the time. Every single person at my school has one walking around in the hallway with it i think its pretty stupid. I just have the old grey one looks better than those colors

To the person who said its a west coast thing, its def not. Just go to campmore, ems, any camping store and you will see them. I dislike the colored ones, and also the super crap ones with narrow openings

There alright, I've had one for like 5 years. But the way to go is with those Platypus resivoirs. They are so much better for camping. You can roll them up when their empty and if they are only half full their only half the size, unlike Nalgene. And they come with wide mouths for water filters too.

I think the coloured ones are cute, but it gets annoying when every single person has one. The smaller ones, with the small mouth are nicer for day walks or stuff like that cause you dont 'waste' water tat way. And nalgene does make the bottles that fold down...you just don't see those as often, but look online, and I'm pretty sure you'll find one.
