New Riders of The Purple Sage
They kick so much ass. Jerry Garcia was actually their guitarist until 1971, and Mickey Hart was on drums when they formed up and the bassist was Phil Lesh. So basically these guys were the Grateful Dead until Lesh left in 1970, and Jerry a year later. They've got tons of awesome albums, and I'd have to say their best are probably self-titled NRPS and Adventures of Panama Red. They sound a ton like the Dead, and toured with them a lot in the 70's. Anyways, yeah, just some badass music.
Hells yes, have you ever seen the Album Cover for Panama Red? It is awesome. I go over to my friends and just play that record over and over for hours.
Yeah, the Panama Red cover rocks... guy in a cowboy hat smokin' a big ol' doobie, just chillin'... NRPS style.
Actually now that I look, it's more of a Spanish matador's hat, the guy is definitely Mexican.
