editing programs for macs

What are good editing programs for macs. I have that qicktime pro shit and that has shit for editing. I know about final cut pro but thats like 1000 bucks. I need something cheaper or i was wondering if someone can maybe hook me up with final cut pro for cheap?

oz, if I had the money to get a high end mac, I would, but I built my high end PC for much much less that a comprabale mac would cost. If you know how to get a cheap mac, tell me, I'd love to get one.

imovie's pretty nice..and really really easy to use..but the titleling's really weak..the transitions are pretty good though..
but other than that it's a pretty solid editing program..
i'm hopin to get premiere 6.5 soon..i have 5.1 and i'm waitin for the 6.5 upgrade to come on ebay so i don't have pay the $150 for the upgrade..

IceRider...call me...i can build you a pizza box g4, 1 ghz, 512 ram for about a grand if not maybe an extra 200 more. if you don't mind missing the altivec instruction set (you will if you do code stuff), i can build you a g3 cluster of 5 machines or so for about a grand.

for those of you on dual g4s using final cut 4, you do know that fcp 4 isn't set up to use both of your processors when doing the video rendering right??? there was some report about the p4 3 ghz smoking the dual 1.42 g4 at video...the guy never activated the second chip using the rendering farm option and it turns on the dual still smokes the 3 ghz p4.

the 970 single chip beats the shit out of the dual 1.42's right now. thing is though, gotta wait for apple to get off their asses...you may still be seeing os x running on amd equipement as the pc port of os x has continued and the darwin bsd core is widely available for the i86 instruction set.

i have the same problem as above though, i really want a mac, but i am to poor to get a new one so instead i just rip on them.
