my take on summer camps

I think these thing are a total waste of money...like sure you get to ski in the summer and get to meet pros but you can learn anything there that you cant learn at your own mountain..PLUS all the money you spend on summer camp you can buy new skis, bindings, boots, and outwear for the next season...

does your hill have water ramps? do you have soft snow to land in all the time? can you ski in a t-shirt? or are there tons of pros there to coach you? dont think so... I learned a ton at camp, but it is pretty damn expensive.

it's definitly not for everyone
it's for me because
i ride in ohio, there's very few people to ride with that will progress you
in ever get to meet pros, and it's like a little treat
i actually get coaching, you can't find it anywhere around here, and from actual coaches
the terrain is outstanding
it's fun
the camp atmosphere is great
i'm not old enough just to go live in whistler all summer without my parents

and the list goes on...
i work hard for it, but love itr.

you wanna ski in the summer, then go to hood or whistler and ski theyr parks. You'll save big money....

o and water ramps are gay

haha epithemus, yup we've got water ramps, there is ALWAYS soft snow to land in, and when it is hard in bounds, htere is an open backcountry policy, so you are guaranteed atleeast a foot of pow to land in not including the base, the last 1/4 of the season you could wear shorts, and probably the last half at some resorts you could comfortably wear no jacket. and there are lots of pros or skiers who are better than you skiing here that will give you advice. the only advantage i can see is that you can ski in the summer, which you get here to you just have to hike. camp would definately be fun, but i thought it would be fun to prove you were wrong to, and i am not jealous cause i could easily afford camp to. i also heard something about new rules put in by whistler, banning jumps over 15 feet and spins over 360 suckers.

look at it this way, u may, a lot of ppl on this site do, have shitty mountains, and u might not have the best ppl around u, and u might not have much motivation, a camp can give u taht, if u want it too

Well, what would you rather have, a whole shit load of new gear, or substantially better skiing skills? I would rather ski on 3 year old shit and go to camp to get better, than not go to camp and buy new stuff. But, I'm not going to camp anyway, I am going to whistler for the month of June though, going to be sick.

yea i am not saying camp wouldnt be fun, it would be really fun i think, and its great for people who dont get to ski at good places very often, if i wasnt saving up for other things i would definately go to camp. so basically i, and the steeze boyz collectively are the coolest ever. period.

Dont go to camps, go ski hood and watch everyone throwing down, you'll learn as fast as in a camp in my opinion.

yeah, you can just go to whistler or hood and hit up the publick park, and it wont cost 2 grand cdn. its like 35 bucks a day to ski whistler in the summer

i guess if you live in a flat snowless pisshole, camp may be your only ray of sunshine. to people that live near good hills, its pretty pointless. i still got 2 weeks of skiing then a summer full of drunken ATVing.

ok, cruse or going to flordia cost like 2k for a week. COC is about 2k and so i have heard is the best time of your life, and if your like me i rather ski then go swiming. Also my Moutions bigest jump this year was like 15 feet cant learn much on that.

Nah, I agree with Sirjibsalot. The snow has been soft and the parks great and the weather fantastic and warm the past month or so and we've got another 2 weeks left in the season. I've been skiing in T-shirts for a month now. True, no pros are there to help me out, but its free!!!

I went to camp and it was worth every penny. Anyways, whats the point of making threads like this. If you dont think its worth the money then dont go, but what is the point of this.
