ok well I suck at skateboarding, its fun and all but I suck. I can ride around fine and good and dandy. I can ollie fairly high and I can consistantly land ollies while standing still and moving and everything else. Now... why do flip tricks and the other ins and outs of skateboarding not work for me? Why? I need help

you dont jump high enough. when you pop your tricks, you dont just flip it, you gota jump too so you stay over your board and on top of it. you dont leanr to skate over night it took me years to get where i am right now

yeah im at a similar stage as the kid who made this thread. but i have one problem: when i ollie i sometimes go to the side, kinda like a shifty. what am i doing?

yeah, everyone expects to just be amazing....ussually takes about 4 years to really be a bit better than the average skater..
most pros have being skateboarding for like 15+ years.

well, just a thuoght but i never know since i havent seen you ollie in person..
but when you ollie what position are your arms in shoulders in and what are they liek when you pop, while your popped, and when you land?
cuz they need to be perfectly aligned with your nose and tail...or else your board is going to turn as your lower body will turn with your shoulders (upperbody).

It's mostly a fear factor. Best way I learned to land flip tricks while moving is ride and trick into grass (like a sidewalk into your lawn). Somehow for me landing on the grass eliminated the fear and once i practiced there for a while, I could take it out to the streets and do it fine

yeah i used to do this. your like turning 90 almost when you ollie stairs and shit huh? when you ollie shit kinda pretend like your ollie-ing onto a ledge to 50-50 it or something that helped me alot. what it gets you to do it keep your shoulders parallel to your board. when your shoulders start to turn then so do you. hope that helps a little.

fuck all the practise bullshit, if you not super good now your probably not going pro. So if thats the case just do what skating, biking, skiing and pretty much every independant sport is made for, chilling with your friends all day laughing and doing dumb shit just to see if you get caught. Thats what its all about

mabye he wants some tips so he can skate better and it'll be more fun and he can keep up with his friends. skating's not as fun when you ain't no good.

are you activly now seaking out my posts and disagreeing with them because I didnt agree with your post about HD cameras? I never sayed that he wanted to go pro, i sayed its not always about being as good as the pros or even abut being able to throw down "easy" tricks like kickflips and heelflips. I put them in " " because they are not easy at first, it takes time to be able to get it down smooth but if he does go out skating with people that are better than him he will progress faster. I know that from experience, its how i got good at skating, biking and skiing. Being out there pushing yourself to match or beat your friends is fun and you get to mess around all day too

haha im not seeking out your posts hahaha. i just came to this thread and disagreed with part of your post. but yea being able to throw down is way fun and skating with your friends who are better then you is the best way to learn.

you gotta practice for a long time to get your first flip down and once u got it down the other flips will come easier. it took me 4 months to get a kickflip down....
