Alright, I have seen a couple DJ's in action, and have played with some minor turntables (i duno if they even qualify) and i want to start playing around with it some more, how do you get started in the whole dj thing? I just want to screw around on turntables and such, where do i start?
That helps a ton, where do i start, what kind, i want to know how you get started, I dont need some annoying kid saying "you proboblly have to buy some". What to get, where to get it. im so fucking lost.
i was in your same spot like a year ago. dont spend much money on it untill you really know your going to really work with it. i know that sounds childish but ive seen people blow a grand and then just drop it
deff check ebay. i would go for some cheap used stuff.
i waked into hot topic and bought myself some arm fishnets. I was so psyched to get onto my myspace account to post some pics. Thats the closest ive ever got to hitting an urban rail.
if u have like 300 bucks that could get u a good starting set up. and u have to know what u wanna do, u can have 2 tables and a criss fader, or u can have a table the fader and like a cd player where u can que more than one cd up so u can swich the shit and mix it. id go with the cd deal at first cuz u have the fader and the table to scratch on and u can practis gettin good at that and mixing some cd's. just look it up and u should try some stuff out a lil to see what u like. and some brands r like tecknika. (not spelt right) and numark. those r good. good luck with ur djin man
i am also extremely interested in starting how to dj. i would reccomend going to www.djforums.com . I have learned alot about what equiipment to get there. do you have a lot of vinyls that you would mix/scratch with? becuase i have very little so i would have to buy a lot of them(unless i got a CDJ, but those are more expensive that normal TT's). From what ive learned already getting into djing will be very expensive.
so do you want to make beats or scratch and session a ton? if you want to just scratch (pretty sure you said that) then go to a local music store and ask the dude in the electronic music section for advice. thn buy the same stuff off the net instead of the store.
no, cd's are laaaame, u can still play mp3's with programs like stantons final scratch. Its kinda pricey (300ish on ebay for the cheaper one) but it pays for itself right away bc thats all ur mp3's on vinyl
'My father was a drug dealer'
'That must have been THE SHIT!'
'It ruined his life'
'that must have been SHIT'
get some techs. cant go wrong w/ techs. mk2's are what i got and a vestax mixer. all vestax are good and the faders rarley go out, i think there the best mixer for scrathing and battling. i started out w/ some numarks just to see if i would like it and once i fell for it i went and droped some doe and got set up real. my advice is to drop like 3-4 bills and get some low end begginer set up w/ justa 2 channel mixer. make sure the tables you are getting are direct drive tho too. play around w/ them for some time. if you really are starting to get into it and you have a good collection of vynal, step it up and get a new mixer then get some TECHS! but if your realy serious your looking at a G for a slammn set. and you have to get needles. needles are key. if you have any q's just pm me. god luck.
well from what ive read at dj forums cdj's dont feel like vinyl, all the new music comes out on vinyl before its put onto cd, and vinyl has betetr sound quality. CDJ's are way more conveinent tho and cheaper in the long run because u dont have to keep getting vinyls. if i were u i would get a CDJ and a turntable. ive also heard that its better to start ur basics on vinyl then go to cd.
