depends, it defintly won't be as visually appealing because no doubts that it will run on something similar looking/feeling to microsoft's portable operating system... tech wise tho it will defintly be up there.. mind you everything out now is pure speculation seeing as there not saying or commenting on anything

Too late. It's gonna have to be cool as fuck, cheap as peanuts, and reliable as a tank if it's gonna compete with IPod now. The IPod has been around for how long? You don't build/capture market share like that overnight.
the CLICK HERE BITCHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! mouseover label made me laugh.
i doubt the early stages of the microsoft mp3 player will be as good as the ipod. Mac has had the audio/video advantage over microsoft for a long time and it'll take a while for microsoft to catch up. i still like PC's better for everything except video editing though.
cool feature its supposibly going to have that the ipod does not.. is Wifi.. meaning you can transfer your songs onto your media player with no cable.. pretty interesting idea and would be cool if it was quick and worked well

It will definetly be interesting to see them compete...because so many people use PCs now and they are very happy with them, may stray them from the ipod where some i klnow have had problems with...for me i have a Dell DJ which is very good and i have never once had a problem with it, which makes me feel that ipods are less usefull and almost pointless to get one. Overall i think that it will cause a great amount of comomsion in the media world just because i believe that there are many more PC users in the world. and that they have had more successs...but these are just my thoughts...feel free to argue
Its gotta be thin. Thats the only downside to most mp3 players out there right now.
They are cubes. Thats not nice in a pocket. There battery life is much better also and some even have higher audio settings the the iPod's, but that arent thin.

i think it all comes down to the software....in my opinion, itunes absolutely destroys windows media player in all aspects. itunes also destroys music. and from what i see, the new ipod is going to be ridiculous, so good luck microsoft

The only problem with this and other mainstream MP3 players is DRM. I can guarantee you that it will be rediculously hard to put songs on these things. You will have to jump through so many hoops so that Microsoft can 'verify' your music. No thank you. I'll stick to my iRiver that lets me put anything I want on it, without fear of it phoning home to report me to the big bad RIAA.
