no, not with a triple crown, especially if you're going to be doing dh. dirt jumping it's fine for but you don't want to be stuck w/ one gear for dh. plus, with the tripple crown you'll want gears to haul yourslelf around. that's just my opinion. hope it helped.

What are the advantages? Just not having to worry about the shifter breaking?

there really are no advantages man. even if you are dirt jumping you might come across a trail where you need the extra push. i have a cannondale chase and it is definetly worth keeping the bike with a few gears. on that one and on my big hit, i have no front derailer so the chain doesnt pop off as easy for DJ and slopestyle. aight yeah hope it helps, and the snowskaters cult is dead man change yo sig!

i race downhill and iv only seen 2 people with single speed on a DH/freeride rig.
i only run 8 gears and a short cage derailer and iv never had a problem with it.

it's just a rediculous hipster trend that should be eliminated

you dont have the worry about front gears recking while on DJ or urban. Its way better for urban, then you only hae your pedals to scrape your shins on instead of slashing you leg open on the gears

there is many advantages, idk if any of you people have ever thought of doing a 180 or rolling out before, but a single speed setup helps a lot when going backwards, also much weight loss, simpler to maintain, very very durable, and its always dialed, none of you people on here keep your gears in the shape they're supposed to be in dont lie
but also i would never get a single speed with a triple crown, especially on a hardtail(idk if this is your case or not), also single speeds dont work with full suspension bikes
so stop hating on single speeds, they're fine

Single speeds are cool, just not on the bike this guy's thinking of getting. A Single speed setup on a nice XC bike or Trailbike is fucking gangster though if you can keep up.

yeah, exactly. for urban, its VERY helpful. but keep at least 8 or 9. with that bike, youd need to run a chain tensioner, which totally kills any advantages.
