Pole straps, on or off?

most of the time, i keep mine on, but ive heard a few stories of people breaking their wrists and fingers and stuff from keeping their pole straps on, do you keep your pole straps on or off?

i used to do no pole straps (cut them off) for a season. Then i skied a pow day and ate shit, lost one of my poles. Now i ski with pole straps on.

wtf ski with poles and the straps on. I would drop my poles without the straps. And it looks queer when u ski without poles since they how the teach the gapers on the bunny hill without poles.(And you can beat people with them if they cut in the lift line)

On...when i ride i grip my poles extremley loose and the straps just keep them on my wrists. Havent had a problem with thumbs or wrists breaking but im just scared if i crash the poles gonna get stuck in the ground and stab me in the chest.

my friend was telling me about a safe way to put your pole straps on a long time ago, i think you put your hands up through the strp and then grab the handle or something like that? i cant really explain

yea supposedly its safer if you use them like xc skiing poles, so when you push up without gripping your pole they will drop down your arm

I say on, but just have it loose, it;s nto too cool when yuo have to hike up the hill to get your pole.
