^word, but the orchestral version was actually arranged by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, the piano peice that it was based on was written by Mussorgsky
Oh yeah, can't go past Mozart's requiem (or any masses for that matter, especially haydn) and O Fortuna from Carmina Burana by Orff

it appears we're both wrong and right. the one that's in Fantasia was arranged/revised by Leopold Stokowski from Rimsky-Korsakov's version which was a revision of Mussorgsky's original.

I personally prefer Verde's requiem to Mozarts, though both are beautiful pieces for sure

you want max richter's 'the blue notebooks' album. good pieces include the whole thing is mindblowing so i couldn't tell you which pieces you should download. phillip glass is also a good choice, try and see if you can find 'protest' or 'metamorphosis'. 'string quartet no. 3 (mishima)' by the kronos quartet another good selection.

That is my single favorite classical piece of music ever. Samuel Barber is a fucking genius (behind leonard bernstein).
