pVC is definently possible...especially if u've only got like 3 inches in ure backyard...I dont think it slides as fast as metal personally...my edges sometimes shread the PVC plastic if I get on it wrong
Why do you guys say, 'I have to take a shit' when you just leave it there?' JF learning english

u can pretty much grind off ne thing if u don;t mind wrecking ur ski;s edge. as long as the surface of the rail, ledge, etc are smooth. so to answer ur question, yes, a pvc will work fine. i even learn on how to grind with some logs i found in my garage!!
PVC pipes are usefull cause you can move them easily and place them as you want, all you need, it some snow and a pipe and you can build some kinked rails lauchning rails and lots more.

PVC works great unless it is cold as balls it can crack if you are heavy or land on it really hard. and soften your edges a little so they dont bite. and wax or butter it if it is warm so you slide better.
i usually justwet it with snow and its fine though
