Animals eat eachother. What makes us any different, in reality, we are animals too. We would have other animals eatting us if the dinosaurs didn't die. It's called the food chain, it's natural.

couple things...

first off, you assholes who posted things about vegetarians being stupid or something along those lines can go fuck yourselves, you don't know shit if that's your argument.

second off, just for the record (because things started going off after my post) i never once said eating animals is 'morally wrong' or suggested any sort of 'vegetarianism superiority'. I just said why i eat the way i eat.

thirdly, for those of you who think vegans are unhealthy, try http://www.brendanbrazier.com/. World class vegan ironman competitor...don't get in much better shape then that do you?

and finally, any of you who outright trashed vegetarians for pushing their views on you, fuck you you fucking hypocrite.

Well uh, as hippie-speak as this may sound, it does make a difference to those individual animals you don't kill... hypothetically speaking of course. It's like, choosing to not gang rape someone. Sure, in the grand scheme of things it doesn't make a difference too much, but to that person it certainly does.

I dont think its 'cruel to the animals', people have been eating animals since the beginning of time and if everyone were vegan the whole world would be dominated by animals cause there would be no population control

you could apply that same logic to littering, wasting water, driving gas-guzzling hummers, etc. just becuase one person isnt going to make a big impact, doesnt justify it. if everyone said that, nothing would ever get done.

you can eat what you want, but you get essential proteins and amino acids from meat.

and well, that burger i had at the hard rock a week ago was the best burger i have ever had. SO tasty.

so in conclusion to this long essay, eat what you want, and ill go back to enjoying my steak.

cept not the same thing at all... the animal doesn't have to live with being dead and eaten the restof its life, obviously, whereas the gang raped girl does, its not quite the same thing...

and bear in mind many of these animals are bred and raised to be eaten, so its not like we are dwindeling their numbers or taking them out their habitat.

killing animals to eat them IS cruel. but that is how nature's built up. lions for example kill antilopes to eat them. sure, you can come up withthe aspect that animals are driven by their instinct. but isn't hunger one of the oldest instincts in men? i think meat is necessary for a human beeing. but the main thing is how much you eat of it. i respect the attitude of vegetarians/vegans as long as they do it because they are convinced of it and not because someone else does it or to be cool.

real hardcore vegans have to tan after eating to get their body to produce vitamin D.. the only pitfall I believe - besides judgemental assholes.
I'm no vegan, or vegetarian, but consider this. what other animal has to cook their meat before eating it?? if we were 'meant' to eat meat, wouldn't you think that over time, our digestive tracts would have become used to it? or is it just that we don't like the taste of another animals flesh/blood. Oh, and meat takes a really long time to digest and is not as good a source of usable protein than you may think it is.

A lot of people can live a very healthy lifestyle of not eating meat. For vegan's, it's not necessarily a nutritional choice, it's usually a lifestyle choice.
that fat vegan.. you'll probably die of heart disease before she does.. but then again her bones are probably going to be very brittle.

there is a hell of a lot of misinformation going on here. its obscene. One of my best friends is a vegan. she seems pretty damn healthy to me. If you can commmit to being a vegan and still obtain all of the vitamins you need, then it is healthy, and overall probably a good thing. if you end up depriving the body of what it needs, then there is a problem.

It is a lifestyle choice for many, but not all. some choose not to eat any animal products, others choose not to consume any animal products period. No Honey, no down jackets, no wool sweaters and so on. Being able to live by a principle, it gives some of them character, something that is missing in most people these days.

I'm not vegan, but I dont eat red meat. The only thing I will eat is chicken. I do get into vegetables though not gonna lie. Good for you!! I eat eggs and shit I'm way far away from vegan. They wont wear certain clothes made from silk because it hurts a moth.... thats weird as fuck.

I'm usually very open-minded to other people's ways of life. I have no problem if you wanna eat tofu burgers your whole life, but once you start imposing yourself onto other people's choices of eating meat, then it becomes a problem. These people tried to ban lobster in Maine (rofl like that will ever happen), because the lobsters had to go through the pain of being boiled alive. First off, scientific research has showed lobsters do NOT have nerves to feel pain. They simply die without pain. These people trying to ban lobster should just be eaten by wolves (since they are subjecting our position on the food chain.) Being the superior being on the planet, we can pretty much eat whatever we want. I'm not bashing vegans at all, my aunt's one. I am just bashing the people that protest this stupid shit that they have no idea what they're talking about.

Enstien? Anyway typos aside, he was a brilliant physicist, not a nutriton expert. If they didn't have supplments for b12 (a vital amino you can only get from meat,eggs and dairy) vegetarians would be fucked up. So don't play it off like it's the "natural" way to live or other such nonsense, and we actualy do have canine teeth so I don't know what the fuck that guy was talking about. It's clear we are omnivores. If we were meant to eat only plants we would probably be able to digest cellulose like deer.

Vitamin b12 quickie
Vitamin B12 is a member of the vitamin B complex. It contains cobalt, and so is also known as cobalamin. It is exclusively synthesised by bacteria and is found primarily in meat, eggs and dairy products. There has been considerable research into proposed plant sources of vitamin B12. Fermented soya products, seaweeds, and algae such as spirulina have all been suggested as containing significant B12. However, the present consensus is that any B12 present in plant foods is likely to be unavailable to humans and so these foods should not be relied upon as safe sources. Many vegan foods are supplemented with B12. Vitamin B12 is necessary for the synthesis of red blood cells, the maintenance of the nervous system, and growth and development in children. Deficiency can cause anaemia. Vitamin B12 neuropathy, involving the degeneration of nerve fibres and irreversible neurological damage, can also occur.

Just because you're a crazy bitch doesn't mean your children should have to suffer. There are many cases of Vegans accidently killing their children with malnurishment.

When adults adopt a strict vegetarian diet, deficiency symptoms can be slow to appear. It may take years to deplete normal body stores of B12. However, breast-fed infants of women who follow strict vegetarian diets have very limited reserves of vitamin B12 and can develop a vitamin B12 deficiency within months. This is of particular concern because undetected and untreated vitamin B12 deficiency in infants can result in permanent neurologic damage. Consequences of such neurologic damage are severe and can be irreversible. There are many case reports in the literature of infants and children who suffered consequences of vitamin B12 deficiency. It is very important for mothers who follow a strict vegetarian diet to consult with a pediatrician regarding appropriate vitamin B12 supplementation for their infants and children.

Whoa, who said anything about children? With proper research and information, vegan mothers can easily meet the necessary nutrition requirements... If that means sitting down with a nutritionist, so be it. If that necessitates an animal-food-source, then so be it. However, there are far more people that have had healthy children than have killed them.

"Good sources of vitamin B12 for vegetarians are dairy products or free-range eggs. ½ pint of milk (full fat or semi skimmed) contains 1.2 µg. A slice of vegetarian cheddar cheese (40g) contains 0.5 µg. A boiled egg contains 0.7 µg. Fermentation in the manufacture of yoghurt destroys much of the B12 present. Boiling milk can also destroy much of the B12.

Vegans are recommended to ensure their diet includes foods fortified with vitamin B12. A range of B12 fortified foods are available. These include yeast extracts, Vecon vegetable stock, veggieburger mixes, textured vegetable protein, soya milks, vegetable and sunflower margarines, and breakfast cereals"

An adult aged 15 and up needs about 1.5 micrograms of vitamin b12, a lactating woman needs about 2 micrograms. a 1/2 a cup of the yogourt i'm eating gives me 15% of my daily intake.

It's not hard to get 1.5 micrograms, and the faeces quote above suggests that most people get too much of it and just shit it out. And regardless, if there was any concern, supplementation.

and sorry, but there are MILLIONS of people who are vegetarians or vegan and have babies. Where in the hell are you getting this idea that vegetarians and vegans are producing malnourished kids? Are you some adolescent know it all who is pulling shit out of his ass based on a slippery slope fallacy? Generally you seem to have reasonable posts on this site, but right now, i can't see where you're coming from at all. A few global cases of malnourished vegan children is not representative of the community. Vegetarian and vegans alike can live as healthy as any of you.

I appologize for the marginal percentage that have chastised others for their dietary decisions, but those of you who have chosen to come on here and post your ignorance in order to chastised us, you're just a bunch of hypocrites.

I thought vegans didn't eat any product derived from animals, including any dairy, eggs, honey, silk, exc. Well I just have read articles about vegan parents killing their children. What it boils down to is every single Vegan I have ever met in my life has ruined my perception of them, and now I hate them. what seems like a valiant quest to become healthy without harming any other animal beings, (lets just state for the record that apprently the "life" of plants don't matter) became an excuse to act superior to other people for their dietary choices aswell as constantly bitch at parties.
