So my dad is buying me a new car and were looking for one with good gas mileage and is like 10 or 12,000, i was thinking the civic or corolla but idk what do u think?

i have a dc2 integra and its the shit, u can do so much to them and its amazing for going out to the mountain, which i do twice a week in the winter, just throw some winter tires on there and ur good to go, and get something thats a coupe and a 5 speed cause they are more fun to drive

the tiburon is the only decent hyundai, but if anything on it gets damaged, its a shitload to repair.if i were you id go for the suburu, they are just all around amazing cars

WRX's get bad gas mileage because there fast and people dirve them fast. you can also use regular gas if you retard the timing a little. But i recomend a sub. Maby check out a 2.5rs,

im just searching for a car that gets good gas mileage and wouldnt be too much, i mean the corolla isnt so bad but a little too much $ and a brandnew subaru would cost how much u think, my dad keeps on insisting that we get a brand new car so that down the road there wont be any breakdowns and shit, whats a good website to research cars and shit, i am a skier and would be planning on driving it to the mountain so i need something that will handle well, haha sry for being so long

maybe kelly blue book for car research, but my bro got a used car from my dads friend for 10,000. it was a 01 f 150. it broke down on him a few times and the cylinders got fucked up i think. my dad ended up buying a brand new car because it would cost alot for repairs.

get a vw gti. they are fun to drive, get good gas mileage, and go good to teh mountains. you can get it either in a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder if you just drive like a regular person and also in a 2.8 liter 6 cylinder or a 1.8 liter turbo 4 cyliner if you want a more sporty performance. and there is so much aftermarket products for them.

if you are looking at a car for 12grandish brand new you may be able to find a focus zx3 for that price they get 43mpg. hundyi accents get about the same mpgs. if your gonna drive it alot to and from the mountain you will have to get a set of winter tire but AWD would be the best. Or you could get a jeep wrangler with the 2.5L and get aroung 25mpgs or the 4.0L and get about 20mpgs. of course it has 4x4 so winter is no prob.





I'll drive it untill the wheels fall off, then I'll buy new wheels!

i have a 95 vr6 which is the 6 cylinder. i boght it for 4,000 with a 98 motor in it that had 60, 000 miles. ive put a lot of aftermarket shit on it and its about a 7,000 dollar car now.

if it's gas milage you're worried about, then go with something japanese... if it's performance for the money... again, something japanese... if it's great winter handling/decent performance/semi-luxury, go with something german... if you want cargo room/off road/ski vehicle then there are too many options to list...

basically, aside from personal preferences, what everyone here is trying to say is that for $10,000-$12,000, you are pretty much free to get whatever you want... it depends solely on what you are going to use the vehicle for.

dude wtf are you talking about. first off the kid wouldn't be able to afford a 20,000 dollar car, second 14mpg? try 24 city/30highway. and premium doesn't make that much of a difference because of the great fuel economy. it's actually only 1 more penny per mile than a 2005 4 runner. do some research

oh and as far as the best vehicle to buy. if you drive in snow a lot get a tacoma. approx. 21mpg/highway if you drive conservatively, and great in the snow. you can find like a 1998 definitely in your price range.

i ask because if you're looking at brand new cars, Hyundai or Kia is just about your only route with 12 grand to spend. if you're looking at cars that are a few years old, i suggest you look around a bit more. With Hyundai, you're getting what you pay for. I've driven them before (including the V6 Tiburon) and i can definately say that everything in the car feels unsafe to me...very plastic-y.

Forgetting the whole ricer thing, Honda should definately be very high on your list. Honda makes excellent cars. Hands down, some of the best you can buy. The same can be said for Nissan. You can drive them forever, they're incredibly easy and cheap to work on, and they hold their value very well.

Honestly, it seems to me like a newer Civic, a mid 90's Accord, or a mid 90's Sentra or Altima would be your best bet. With any one of these, you could easily shop around and find one for $10,000 or less, which will save your dad some money (and it doesn't matter what your financial situation is, that always works out to your benefit).

Get a VW if your going to get a 2Wd car for skiing. they are front wheel drive, and better then japanese cars. or get a Rwd car with traction controll and nice studed snow tires. or get a Awd Subie or a Awd Audi.

I have a 93 Audi 90 CS, it has cost me alot in repairs lately. Fucking hate the thing right now.
But It's a good car for skiing, the ski sack is incredible. Tons of power and room for everything.

I'd say for that price, go with something like a 98 or 99 Audi A4 1.8T. The 1.8 will save you on gas, and still have lots of power.

Or maybe even a jetta.

I just got a 2000 subi forester for 10g's couple weeks ago....... AWD, butt warmers, ski rack........ best car for the snow......... even gets upto 29 mpg...... with 165 horsepower....... best efficiant skiing car EVER

well we just took a look at a really nice 2003 corolla with 18,000 miles on it, the trim on it is luxury so it has alot of nice features and gets like 35 to 40 to the gallon, the price for it is 13,000 and were thinking of buying it cause i did alot of research on it and it comes out to being the nicest sedan out there for me.... how much was ur subi^
