^seriously....2 people i know, very close friends, both died at once on their way home from a charity even, hit by a drunk driver, that was devastating...The mom and dad, they outlived both their kids, who were taken from them without warning. Think about it, there is NOTHING cool about driving drunk.

Ive never driven drunk, ive driven high a fair amount, but when im driving around with my friend scott (lineskier10) we're probably smoking while we are driving about 60% of the time, and we are both high close to 90% of the time. Im not trying to be a badass but its the honest truth

ive never ridden in a car with a drunk person, to my knowledge. i have drivin really drunk never, drunk and stoned a few times. one time cuz i had no other choice. i made it home fine. but i have ridden home trashed, and was so glad some one sober was behind the wheel

Well here goes....

Yep I've driven drunk. Here's the problem with a lot of the responses on this topic, most of you are young and don't understand what it means to drink/go to bars/part, etc. etc. It's easy for you spout off stuff you learned in Drivers Ed or DARE, but it's different when you are actually in a position where you are all drunk, 8 miles from home, its 2AM, and you really want to be in your bed.

I have done it a few times, it just happens sometimes. I always used to say to myself, I will never drive drunk, and I didn't for many years. Then I did once, then again, then again. I've only done it a few times, and I regret it and always say "oops, that was stupid, I'm never doing that again". But when you are drunk, and in the country-side and your judgement is impaired, I guess it just happens soemtimes. I don't condone it, I'm never going to do it again, its been 3 years since I did last, back in my crazy college years.

But you idealistic kids you spout off stuff that sounds like DARE slogans...just wait until you are in that position...a bit inebriated, short drive home, everyone else is more wasted than you, and it seems like you are in complete control of yourself at the time. But once again, I'll never do it again, I've known people killed by drunk drivers, and I regret it happening. I just wanted to enlighten some of you as to why it may happen sometimes.

I've walked 5 miles at 4 in the morning to get home while barely managing to stay on the sidewalk and avoid the lightposts, but I got there, and no one got hurt. If you think your impaired judgment is going to lead to you driving home, GIVE YOUR KEYS UP AT THE START OF THE NIGHT, YOU ASSHOLE. Because that's just a stupid, stupid excuse. Call a cab and come back to pick the car up tomorrow if you have to, but if you're drinking, you'd be better off throwing your keys in the river than even taking the chance of killing someone... the 10 bucks you pay a cab driver to eliminate that risk isn't worth it for you? Next time you plan to go out, think about what you're going to do to get home first. People talking in this thread aren't kids repeating dare and MADD propaganda, they're people unlike yourself who aren't too lazy, too selfish and too dumb to understand the stakes involved in doing something like this. Since people like you only seem to think about yourselves, let me put this in terms you'll relate to: you think a long trip home is going to suck? Imagine spending the rest of your life (part of which will be in prison) coping with the knowledge that you killed someone because you wouldn't cough up the fare or walk a bit. By the way, I'm being harsh intentionally to try to get the message across because apparently all the people with dead friends and relatives didn't cut it for you.

What an intensely infuriating argument.

people make mistakes, this kid probably realizes his. But driving high is nothing if your a casual/regular smoker, its just you enjoy driving more. Driving drunk on the other hand is obviously not smart if your an educated person, but its a free world and you really have your own choices to make. Darwins law will filter out the weak ones.

heres what you should all do,

i know this will be hard for some of you but find a friend who has an open level field or something get as drunk as you want and drive around the field a little bit dont be an idiot and do doughnuts and see how fast u can go around just drive a little bit

now not everyones going to have the same reaction and so many times a day from my friends i hear "driving stoned makes me so much more aware of whats going on" bullshit thats such bullshit it just means youre reducing youre chance of survival in a car just remember you cant just drive drunk once and judge that youll never crash drunk alcohol doesnt kill you right away over time it eats away your liver so yea go ahead drive drunk it may not be the first time u crash maybe not the second or even the 124th time you drive drunk but just remember its bound to happen sometime and you never know whats going to happen even if u dont crash and you get pulled over youre FUCKED think about it a cop doesnt always pull you over for bad driving cops look for something late at night. say at a party a kid knocked your tail light out and you didnt notice a cop sees it pulls over you seem a lil drunk he breathalizers you and youre caught well to you who drink and drive i know i cant change you but words of advice from a previous drunk driver "One night and one stupid descison ruined my LIFE."

i'm with the guy that said take a test drive. do it somewhere where it's dead, and make sure there's someone a) sober and b) filiming it.

watch yourself missing the lines by 5 feet the next mornining, i bet that'd convince you not to drive drunk.

i mean, as unfortunate as it is, the majority of people will drive somewhere after drinking at some point in their life. it's a stastistic, i read it somewhere.


honestly, i think it would be better to go to a local go kart track, and try to drive go-karts drunk. they don't go fast enough to acually hurt you if you crash, but you still need to have your shit together to drive them.

you and your buddies are all at a party and some bad people show up and cause fights you want to leave...your options A). Sleep outside in the harsh new england cold B). Drive to a safe location C). potentiolly get raped or shit kicked out of you and your shit stolen from you...thats why i dont say ill never do anything cuz you never know what you will or will not do until you are in a situation that you must sacrifice your comfort zone of something which you normally wouldn't do

Early this summer, the owner's of our local ski hill lost their son in a drunk driving accident. His friend was hammered, and Joel died. This guy was an amazing snowboarder and a great guy. He was on track for the Olympic Games in pipe with a large travel budget and salary from burton. It was a shock to every one to hear that he died. His death was completely pointless and avoidable. Please, don't fucking drink and drive.
