I know all of you well. I also know that you check this site everyday religiously at your home office while "Hit List" is being made. Lately on here it has come to my attention that Steve is pulling some stupid shit, or people are blowing things way way out of porportion. You as a team need to figure something out fast, before 66 thousand freeskiers on this site, plus many more are exposed to 'bad practices' of yours everyday. Whether that is sitting down with Steve and figuring out what is wrong, or writing some formal apologies/press releases, it needs to be done. I know that if my business partner was single handedly hurting my company's reputation and image I would certainly do something about it. (Murray- are you at all angered!?) Yet we have heard nothing from any of you guys. Now, i know as well as you do that NS.com does not represent the entire ski community, but i feel tht this many young people do have a part in your future, and the time is now to take action and straighten things out. This is a formal invitation for you, as MSP, a true 'leader of the industry' to get things figured out fast, before your entire audience starts to hear of your stunts. And please, dont think that i dont know what i am talking about, i have several messages everyday from known 'industry insiders' that let me know im hitting the subject just right. So, Riley, Murray, Scott, Steve, and Steve, (etc..) get something done, and maybe this hating can stop. Thank you for your time.

I love how people are already saying how shitty "Hitlist" is going to be when it hasn't even come out yet. You guys truely are sheep. I love how sketchline tries to jump on the bandwagon talking shit on MSP as if he could produce a movie of compareable quality. He's just trying to rally support by going along with the crowd after he pissed everyone off.

"and i cant believe this is blowing up like this, cuz no one ever believed/realized that freeskier bought the rights to freeze from transworld and then shut it down. and yeah i know there was a press release, but freeskier knew that they would never sell another magazine again if people knew that was the case."
Ah yeah, are you one clueless "pro" or are you just really stoned? The boys at Freeskier couldn't buy out Freeze even if they cashed out all of their trust funds at one time. A much bigger company owns both all the transworld mags and what is left of Freeze. It was a pure big business decision to shut down Freeze, nothing more, nothing less. STFU, or do some research before you spout shit you moron.

Never put out a progressive movie ever? What do you consider progressive? Was High5 progressive? An hour of people sliding metal rails in the middle of cities filmed on a camera shittier than mine? Thats not even skiing, if you want to bite on a rollerbladers and call it progression then I hope this sport never progresses.
MSP movies display every aspect of skiing, they goto the best locations, have a solid list of riders in every movie (not just the hottest new 13 year old rollerblader with skis on). They make high quality films, you just can't deny that.

Not all their films are high quality... but I'll admit that most are if you'll admit that they should be doing a better job with what they have. I'd rather watch Charles 1 foot a 15 stair urban down rail with his hands up in the air as I wince in searing pain than sit through most of Yearbook. The least they could do is be original with all the cash people pay them... originality is free.
And these days they're progressive in the way that's not.
It had to be said.

Well put J.D._May, I believe amongst the people simply hopping on the "MSP Hate" bandwagon, there is also a large group of people basing their opinions on how they interpret the business practices of the company and the quality of the movies produced. However, a member of either group has the same consumer power and MSP should appease both groups. The primary reason I do not buy MSP movies is I simply do not enjoy them any more. The caliber of other production companies has increased so much in the past few years that I no longer have a great deal of interest in watching MSP movies let alone purchasing them. I find the growth of MSP movies inert not having changed or experimenting with their formula. I also believe that the cut-throat business tactics being employed have no place in the small free-ski industry. This spawns resentment towards the company, but if they still employed these practices and made movies that blew the competition out of the water I wouldn't hesitate to buy a copy of the movie. I'm sure most of you hating on the company act in a similar manner.
As for legal action, if Newschoolers had published some information intended to damage the reputation MSP, they could sue on the grounds of libel. Whoever said free-speech has no idea of what they are talking. This is a privately owned and operated forum. You have no free-speech rights on here. Even if you do… what would MSP be suing on the basis of, someone expressing their free-speech rights? You must realize that legal action is typically far down on the list of things to do when people are giving you problems in the business world. Most often, simply discussing your concerns in a professional matter is the first thing to happen, and the most effective.

yeah i dont know where the line for what is "progressive" or "not progressive" is drawn, but i do know that i dont really care. ski movies are entertainment. if we start boycotting a branch of our already struggling industry, well that just isnt good for anyone is it? none of you watch high five just because its "progressive". i watch it because its one of the sickest movies out there and it keeps me stoked on skiing. if someone felt the same about yearbook, then are they wrong? i thought yearbook was good. a little long, but there were at least...3-5 segments in it that i loved. i dont care that im supporting steve winter or not. with any video, I care that
A: money is going back into our sport.
B: Im watching freeskiing.
dont get caught up in all this stuff and think that you know the company to be such "assholes". just because one guy left a dick-ish message on some answering machine or had an alias talking shit on NS. and no ones seen "hit list" yet, so you cant really knock it just because of previous MSP videos. and if its not "progressive" enough because apparently more big mountain= not progressive.
and ice is scary- dude, hive five isnt ALL rails at all. did you even see it? its greeaaattt!

Alright I was a little harsh on High5, but the only reason I liked it was a good soundtrack.
I'm just tired of all the ski politics that these people involve themselves with. They are so concerned with this whole business of being "core". I think it's phoney, what the fuck is "Core" and who the fuck cares. I think THOSE are the elitest snobs of skiing who try to say whats cool and whats mainstream, they are only trying to elevate themselves as people who "really care about freeskiing more than everyone else" by creating different acceptable practices and film companies and clothing companies that you must adhere to in order to be "core"
Whoever it is that makes these arbitrary descisions (they are usually based on how old the company is[newer the more core]) for whatever reason though MSP was too old to be considered "core" so they ousted it for no reason other than a phone message in a bonus feature (which by the way was very unprofessional to put into a movie) I don't know it just pisses me off all these phoney kids trying to to be elitest ski snobs, DARSH

I totally agree with Ice-Is-Scary. I'm tired of being told by some whiny park rat that "You're not core because you don't ski in the park" or getting attitude from people who think that their way of skiing is the best. Everyone should just shut the fuck up about this whole MSP thing. Just watch your L1P films, I'll watch my MSP films, and we don't have to fight. And please dont shoot back a response starting with the words, "BUT STEVE WINTER IS A BAD PERSON!!!!!!" because I don't give a shit, K?

Funny aint it Steve, freestyle is in a bit of a different possition now isn't it?

but what WE'RE saying, the ones trying to defend msp, is that the people saying "MSP Sucks" are the same ones saying that urban is the next biggest thing in skiing. Id like to hope that skiing is skiing and jibbing is jibbing, urban etc. And people that rag on msp for having too much big mountain, what the fuck is wrong with you

ya i totally agree, i dont care if it's an msp or whatever, i have to say i do find their movies a bit 'regressive', too much slo-mo, and what's with the 'we're oh-so-newschool' claim? but in the end it's just another ski movie , that i'm gonna watch jsut to see some skiing, there're always good segments in every movie.and after all it's all about skiing in teh end, i mean you cant expect every kid that watches the movies to be into the business stuff and so on...

I was discussing this with some skiers in the past, i don't know why there is so much anger towards a company that makes movie that they like and showcase skiing as a whole I will agree at times that the skarashuting and snowmoblie segments got out of hands over all the movies had skiing as a core and hopefully that is what everyone is on this website. We are skiers it doesn't matter if your a park rat, big mountian slayer or just some one who loves the art of sliding down the snow and this bashing of one company is becoming tired, redundant, and stagnet. How bout skiing becomes the main focus again instead of the bussiness side of this sport
