save as- then on the bottom you should have a scroll down box set to 24 bit bitmap by default. pull that down and you will have a format selection

what kind of editiing software do you have if u go to macromedia.com download a 30 day free trial of fireworks and u put the pic in there and go to export wizard and u can change it to jpeg or gif
