1. They develop one of the first twin tips on the market just to start with.

2. They started the equal tip and tail hieght idea

3. Firsts to put in a 100% sidewall design for their twin tips.

4. Firsts to decide that center mounting your skis would be dope for park riding.

5. Had a totally equally proportional flexing ski. (meaning you could mount one ski backwards if you wanted to).

Then... they kinda deleted those ideas... went with 100% cap construction, made skis with almost no twintip, they made skis that were/are real stiff under the boot. Seems as soon as they turned their backs, all their ideas were revampted into another product (IE, the Scratch). Now theyre trying to get some of the action back by making sidewall skis again. Gotta have some sympathy for them. They come up with the ideas, they push the industry in the right and best direction, and the carpet gets pulled out from underneath them. Im not really a liberal hippie, but FUCK the CORPORATIONS. LINE is now seeming to be headed back in the right direction, so props to them. Every other company that just steals ideas and keeps the same skis for 3+ years... yall know what you can do.

the only thing cap consruction is good for is to prevent delamming. and it's cheaper to make. I like sidewall.

I live in a place far far away, where on occasion the telly tubbies will come to play....and that's when Ma gets out the shotgun. Damn critters climb in our gutter system all the time.

Yeah, the got rid of their sidewalls because those skis (1260 and Darkside) fell apart easily because Line's production quality was really poor back then. Chronic Wides look like the perfect spec for what I'm wanting for my park skis next year but I'm still not sure how well they're going to last.

its arguable whether cap carves better. thats what line says, and if you notice every other company that makes carving skis. CAP. im not sayiing i like it. geez, it totally screws up your decal jobs if you need to cut them.
the only ski next year that is side wall is hte elizabeth. i think its slightly slant but dont quote me

first off, line skis are sick. but, does a cap vs a sidewall construction thing really change how the ski rides? I mean, would really only the flex pattern and the base shape be the only realy thing that effects how it skis?

^ No construction does not have the effect on the ride that a lot of these guys think it does.

As for the rest of this thread...it's comical how much wrong information can be collected about one company in one place or skis and skiing in general for that matter.

No one who has posted in this thread has shown much of an understanding for anything they've written. Schmies has a ton of knowledge about ski construction and the industry in general but for some reason has chosen to walk a different path on this one. (I mean that with respect, I'm not talkin bad on ya man.)

For the record, someone please show me the company who has never had a binding rip out of one of their skis.

Show me a company who has never had a ski delam.

Show me a company who hasn't produced a cap constructed ski.

Now show me a company that has been out there on the leading edge for as long as line. Show me a company who has brought as many new ideas to the table as line. Show me a company who's not afraid to put something out there and take a chance of failure for the sake of progession like line does.

Line has nothing on Volkl. Try comparing the Mothership or the Pollard Pro Model to the Explosiv or the Gotama... Please.

Also, you did not indicate what is so much better about the Volkls in your opinion. I would hate either of those skis because they are stiff as shit.

not bashing schmies by anymeans, and not sayign i know more than him. but he is an artist, not a manufacturer or designer, im sure he gets alot inside info about ski construction and what not, but hes definitely not GOD

Please explain to me since I'm such an idiot what the vast difference in ride between a cap constructed ski and a sandwich contruction is.

Who would want to use a cap/sandwich and why?

And I'm sorry but you are going to have to come up with a better arguement than

Because that was your previous statement...does sandwich mean a ski can't carve? That's odd because I'm pretty sure I've seen a bunch of Rossi skis that were specifically for carving that were sandwich. I've also seen lot of cap skis that were great on landings.

You're right I am an idiot...you obviously have it all dialed so let's hear it.

1. I said it is arguable that cap skis better. Lots of companieschose cap and believe in this. they say the cap delivers energy more efficiently to the edges.

2. I never said cap is bad for landings. I said sandwich construction is best for stomping landings, not carving.

3. I never said sandwich cant carve. I said it isn't necesarily the best.

4. Cap construciton is lighter and no one can argue that fact.

5. Cap may be cheaper, but do you think LINE cant afford to make sidewall. It is a matter of pennies, if a dollar per ski. price is not an issue. when they felt it was more suitable to use sandwich, they did. say hello to the Elizabeth.

6. Cap does not delaminate or chip as easy.

7. I stand by my ground saying your an idiot solely for the fact that you said ski construciton doesnt affect ski performance

You made the exact argument that I would have made.

If you are going to call me an idiot learn how to read.

I said that construction does not affect the ride to as much as some people would have a person believe.
I did not say that construction doesn't have an effect at all.

Both kinds of construction work. There are differences between the two but the differences aren't significant enough that they should keep someone from buying a ski if they like the shape, feel, flex, and perhaps even the looks. The differences certainly aren't enough to shy away from a company such as LINE altogether.

Once again learn to read, my post was in support of LINE, and I have many good reasons for that. Look at my profile and see what skis I ride. Also ask around to some of the guys on this site who know me, they will tell you several other reasons why I love LINE.

You have proven yourself to have the same mentality as most of the 12 yr olds on this site. Call someone an idiot or a fag first without reading their post, and then look stupid when you find out you don't know what you are talking about.

By the way, they (LINE) didn't decide to use a sandwich construction for the Elizabeth, Eric Pollard did.

That in itself says a lot about the company. They changed their production process to suit the needs of ONE of their riders.

line skis are symetrical they are aexaclty the same forwards as they are backwards, except for the graphigc
